Chapter 49 Quick Divorce
Chapter 49 Quick Divorce
Sophia exclaimed in astonishment, "How could you say that about me?"
Nathan didn't have time to waste on her nonsense. "Just remember, if you ever dare to touch my phone without permission again, I'll treat it as stealing trade secrets." He turned around to go to the balcony to answer the phone.
Sophia grabbed him, hysterically pleading, "Are you going to fire me?"
"I remember that stealing trade secrets carries criminal liability. Don't you even understand the law?"
He shook off Sophia's hand and headed to the balcony.
Emily listened to the entire argument between Nathan and Sophia on the phone, finding it ridiculous.
What is love?
All she could say was that Sophia's luck was not too good. She hadn't enjoyed her good days for long before ending up in this situation.
"Emily..." Nathan's voice softened. "Why are you calling me so early? Does your father need money for the bills? How much do you need? I'll send it to you right away."
After seeing his heartless demeanor, now facing his affectionate tone, Emily felt a chill run down her spine.
"My father is fine, and I have enough money. Don't worry about it."
Nathan sounded disappointed. "Emily, I really wish you would ask me for money now. Whatever amount you need."
Emily scoffed, "If you think you have too much money, you can donate it to charity."
"You don't have to keep mocking me. I know you're upset..." Nathan explained desperately. "I'm thirty years old already and still don't have children. Sophia happens to be pregnant, so I got a little impulsive." Emily found it utterly absurd. "I haven't had children for four years because you haven't spent a single night at home in those four years. How can I have children alone?"
"Are you blaming me for being distant to you before? I promise you, as long as you come back, I'll spend every night with you from now on..."
"Enough, I don't want to talk about these things anymore. I called you today to ask you out..."
As soon as Emily mentioned going out, Nathan eagerly agreed, "Sure, sure, what do you want to eat? The new movies are good too. I'll book tickets now. Where are you? I'll come pick you up right away." Emily replied irritably, "I'm outside the courthouse."
"Why are you at the courthouse..." Nathan suddenly realized, and his smile froze on his face. "You're not thinking about divorcing, are you?"
Emily sneered, "If it weren't for wanting a divorce, I would never have called you in my life."
Nathan's attitude also turned cold. "Look at the life you've had after leaving me. You dress up as a car model, how much do you earn ina day? As long as you come back, I'll give you a hundred thousand dollars a month for your expenses, excluding money for cosmetics, clothes, and bags."
Emily laughed outright, "Can't you understand English?"
ก
Nathan was furious too. He punched the wall with his fist, making a loud thud.

"If that's not enough, I'll give you more. Two hundred thousand okay? No? How about fifty thousand? Whatever you want, I'll give it to you. Isn't that what women are like? As long as the money is right, everything is negotiable. Or you can just name your price, how much money does that man outside give you? I'll double it."
"Why does your words sound like you're trying to keep me?"
"Believe whatever you want. If you want to understand it as me

But my financial support is legal. We haven't legally divorced yet."
Emily glanced at the clock on the wall. "It's 9:30 in the morning now."
"What?"
"We don't need to wait in line now. Hurry up and come, I'm hanging up now."
Emily pressed the hang-up button.
She still held a handbag in her hand, containing her identification documents and the wedding photo of her and Nathan.
Today would mark the end of this failed marriage; she was finally going to be free.
Emily took out the photo of the two of them, tore it in half between her and Nathan, and then shredded it into pieces, throwing it all into the trash can.
"Miss, are you here to handle some business? You can go straight in." A kind staff member came over to remind her.
Emily smiled politely and thanked her, "Thank you, I'm waiting for someone to come and handle it together."
The staff member instantly realized, "Are you waiting for your boyfriend? Are you here to register for marriage?" Emily politely smiled, "No, I'm here for a divorce."
As soon as she finished speaking, Nathan walked in through the door.
"You're here?" Emily stood up with a smile. "Hurry up, don't waste time."
Nathan grabbed her and dragged her out. "Divorce? You'll never get it in this lifetime!"
