No Escape from Love

Xena was a lunatic.

She scoffed, "How dare an illegitimate child fight against me for the position as the head of Schneider Group? He has no right."

"The fact that Luke can do so proves that Mr. Schneider approves of it. Even so, he favors you and gives you loads of support. Why are you still treating Luke so cruelly?"

Xena lowered her body to meet my eyes, uttering coldly, "I warned you about this. When I saw the photos of you and Mr. Hastings, I remembered you're the woman who accompanied him to the cocktail party.

"That necklace you wore was inherited from the Hastings family. Since you've worn that necklace before, I won't put up with you."

It was a misunderstanding. Alex had told me the reason behind it, but Xena would not believe me even if I told her the truth.

Xena had a vicious smile on her face. "Originally, I wanted to kill Lucas. But now that I have Alex's support, Luke will barely be a match for me. That's why I had him beaten up and gave both of you warnings."

I helped Lucas up. He was slowly regaining consciousness. When I saw his cracked lips, I felt a pang in my heart.

To someone like Xena, the dignity and lives of other people were worthless. I picked up the glass of water from the table and gently fed Lucas.

Xena snickered. "A maid's daughter and the illegitimate son of the Schneiders... That's quite a match. I don't want to replace Alex, but I don't want you to show up beside him."

At that point, I could not be bothered to argue with Xena anymore. Once Lucas regained consciousness, I would leave with him.

However, Xena pushed me from thenoveldrama

back. Frowning, I stood up and

glared at her. "Xena, do you find this cruel and lame game fun? Alex isn't eland

a fool. He'll find out about your intentions."

Xena crossed her arms, saying, "So what? By the time he finds out about it, he'll either be dying or have

hundreds of millions of dollars in

debt." Content belonged

She inched closer toward me, snickering maniacally. "Alex is just a pitiful person

who's only worthy of being a stepping stone for my family."

"You" I raised my hand, wanting to teach Xena a lesson. To my surprise, a strong arm caught my hand.

I whipped my head around to meet Alex's icy gaze. Standing behind him was Henry. My heart sank as Henry glanced at me provocatively.

At that moment, I realized what was happening-I had been tricked. Xena had provoked me on purpose. It was all a part of Xena and Henry's plan.

The look in Alex's eyes held a mix of surprise and anger. "What are you doing?"

"Look, Alex. Your sister clearly wanted to hit my sister," uttered Henry in a sarcastic and pleased tone.

However, Alex kept his eyes fixed on me as if he was waiting for me to answer.

After pondering for a moment, I

finally explained, "It's not what you

think itis. It's Xena. She did this on

purpose. She even got Lucas

involved and threatened me to leave

the Hastings residence."

Henry snorted coldly. "Nonsense. Why would my sister threaten you to leave the

Hastings residence out of the blue?"
