In that instant, Willard's gaze fell on the figure who had emerged from behind Abbot Blaer-Emyr. The cold, calculating stare he received from Emyr sent a chill through his body. It didn't take long for Willard to piece everything together and understand why Charmaine was present.
The realization hit him hard and fast, and his heart sank. I almost committed an irreversible error!
His mouth went dry, and Willard almost bit his own tongue as he hurried to correct his blunder.
"A-Abbot Blaer, this is all a misunderstanding..." He quickly turned to the young monk, his voice flustered as he apologized, "My sincerest apologies. I never meant to cause any offense."
The young monk remained calm, his hands held in a prayer gesture. "Mr. Nelson, the person you truly owe an apology to is her," he said, his tone unshaken.
Willard's face stiffened, his embarrassment visible. With an unwilling sigh, he bowed his head to Charmaine, muttering a quick apology under his breath.
Charmaine didn't respond, her face betraying no emotion.
Willard's hands tightened into fists under his cloak, but he wasn't about to forget why he had come here. He quickly turned back to Abbot Blaer, eager to address the matter at hand.
"Abbot Blaer, 18 years ago, I sought your guidance before my wife gave birth. Your advice helped us, and since then, our family has been at peace. However...

Willard hesitated, glancing briefly at Charmaine, as if the words were a struggle to utter. "She is the daughter my wife bore. There was a mix-up at the hospital, and she was switched with another child. We only recently discovered the truth, and now we've brought her back into the family. But our home is in turmoil, and I need your guidance, Abbot."
The last part came out almost desperately, his voice tinged with a sense of urgency.
Abbot Blaer showed no signs of surprise. He simply shook his head and sighed softly. "Whether it is fortune or misfortune, Mr. Nelson, it is all part of fate. If you wish to make amends, you must not dwell on the past. Return everything to its rightful place, and the situation will resolve itself."
Willard paused, his expression darkening as the words "return to its rightful place" echoed in his mind. A sense of confusion began to cloud his thoughts.
Leah, however, felt a sharp pang in her chest. She quickly feigned a sad expression, trying to explain to the abbot, "Abbot Blaer, it's not that my father refuses to set things right. It's just that my sister... He can't make that decision alone."
Behind her, her nails dug into her palms, her anger boiling beneath the surface.
This monk... He really expects Willard to accept Charmaine back as his daughter?
I won't allow it, not for a second.noveldrama
Abbot Blaer muttered a few verses under his breath before speaking again, his voice soft but resolute. "Fate is shaped by God. If you wish to change your destiny, you must cultivate good deeds and virtues."

clung to, had been peeled away in an instant. His scrutiny made her feel completely exposed, as though she could hide nothing.
The sensation of being laid bare and vulnerable overwhelmed her like a tidal wave.
Leah gritted her teeth, her face paling, unwilling to utter another word. Thankfully, Abbot Blaer didn't continue to press the issue. Instead, he turned to Emyr, his hands joining in prayer as he bowed his head slightly.
"Follow your heart, Mr. Cross. The answers you seek will soon come to you." Emyr nodded gravely. "Thank you, Abbot. Your words are remembered." "Amidst the blessings, may you find peace," Abbot Blaer murmured, before his gaze lingered on Charmaine for a brief moment. Then, without another word, he walked back into the monastery.
Charmaine blinked in surprise. Did the abbot just smile at me?
She was so lost in thought that she didn't notice Emyr approaching until he gently took her cold hands into his, enveloping them with his warmth.
," he said softly.
"Let's go,"
"Okay," Charmaine replied in a whisper.
Before they left, Emyr shot Willard a pointed look, his tone calm yet chilling. "I hear that Rex has made his move. From now on, for every project the Nelsons undertake, Ydris Group will ensure they get their share."
Willard's heart skipped a beat. Emyr's next words were deliberate, each one laced with finality. "Likewise, the Crosses will take their share as well. No matter the cost, it's a necessity."
The people who wronged the one I love think they can avoid the consequences? How naive.
Charmaine couldn't help but let out a quiet laugh at Emyr's words.
As expected of him-he never wastes time on pretense and just settles things immediately.
Watching them walk away, side by side, their closeness a stark contrast to his own bitter defeat, Willard's face turned a deep shade of red with fury.
Leah gripped Willard tightly as she shot daggers at Charmaine's retreating back. Her jealousy was so intense, she could practically feel her teeth grinding.
At that moment, the rest of the Nelson family, who had been waiting for their return, arrived. Seeing Willard and Leah looking so defeated, they froze in confusion.
Valda hurriedly asked, "What happened? Weren't you supposed to meet with Abbot Blaer? What did he say?"
Willard clenched his teeth, his face pale and green, unable to summon the energy to respond. Valda turned to Leah, demanding answers. With Willard by her side, Leah knew she couldn't hide the truth. She reluctantly recounted everything that had happened.
