Calter was elated.

"Really?" he asked.

"It's true." Amelia made up the lie to annoy Preslie. "Mr. Hawls said he'd come and pick me up whenever I wish to visit Nashaland."

Calter was overjoyed.

He said, "No wonder he cared so much about saving your mother. So it's because of you he had the doctor come over in a private plane! Mr. Hawls must very much be into you!"

He had almost believed Sheldon had done it all out of his friendship with Preslie, so that was it.

An epiphany struck Calter.

Perhaps Mr. Hawls got close to Preslie so he could get to Amelia!

He must've taken a fancy to Amelia, so he decided to befriend Preslie for her to put in a good word to Amelia.

"Amelia, if you can make things work with Mr. Hawls, then you should break up with your boyfriend. He may be rich, but he's nowhere as powerful as Mr. Hawls." Calter was already thinking long-term.

Amelia blushed at her father's words. "Dad, it's too early to talk about this, don't you think?"

Clater turned to Preslie. "Preslie, make sure you put in a good word about Amelia to Mr. Hawls; help bring them closer! Our family's honor rests on Amelia's relationship with Mr. Hawls."

Preslie was already dejected, and her father was only making it worse.

She suddenly lashed out, "Dad! Did Mr. Hawls say he's interested in Amelia right in your face?! Did he say he wants to marry her?! They have only met a couple of times! Don't you think you're hoping for too much when everything is still in the air?!"

But Calter didn't see it that way.

He said, "What do you know?! I'm a man! Men know other men best! All men love beautiful women! And our Amelia is gorgeous. It's not strange at all for Mr. Hawls to be interested in Amelia and wants to marry her."

Calter paused for a second before continuing, "Also, why do you think that colonel wants to befriend you? Isn't it all because of Amelia? He probably long had a crush on her but never had the opportunity to court her. He deliberately got close to you to get to Amelia!"

Preslie's face was scarlet with rage, her chest heaving heavily.

Calter's words were over- exaggerated, and she knew it definitely wasn't the case.

But she still felt a burst of sadness overcome her.

It felt overwhelmingly terrible.

She roared with a lump in her throat, "Yes, it's always Amelia! She's the most beautiful woman in the world, and all men love her! Happy?! Any man who wants to talk to me, befriend me, is because they're into Amelia! There, I said it!"

Calter didn't say anything. Instead, Amelia spoke with a knowing tone, "Well, looks like somebody finally knows her place. Good for you." Suffocating with rage, Preslie was on the verge of exploding.

Sheldon was so enthusiastic toward Amelia; he had only said a couple of words to her before leaving but carried a full conversation with Amelia with a smile. She saw it all with her own eyes.

Even if Sheldon hadn't become friends with her because of Amelia, it was no doubt he was more willing to talk to Amelia because he was into her looks!

Meanwhile, as Sheldon was waiting for the lift, he happened to bump into Yesseca.

They were both taken aback for a split second.

After noticing Kyi in's presence, Sheldon's gaze turned rather unfriendly.

"Mr. Hawls, Preslie's mom is fine now, isn't she?" Yesseca spoke up.

"She's fine." Sheldon's expression turned somewhat unfathomable. "Miss Cowell, can I please have a word with you in private?"

Yesseca looked over at Kyi in, who nodded, and she followed Sheldon to the side.

"Miss Cowell, what's your relationship with Kyi in now?" Sheldon went straight to the point.

Yesseca was about to say 'friend' when she retorted, suddenly finding his question a little strange and offensive, "Why are you asking this, Mr. Hawls?"

Her words got Sheldon stumped.

He came back to his senses.

Yeah, why was he asking this?

It was none of his business what kind of relationship they had.

However, he was inexplicably uncomfortable seeing the pair together, subconsciously feeling aggrieved for Mr. Tremaine.

After all, Mr. Tremaine had been worried about her feelings after learning of Celine's dire condition. So much so that he immediately sent his private doctor over and even waited outside the hospital despite his hectic schedule until Celine was out of danger

But now, Yesseca returned to the hospital with Kylin by her side.

Moments later, Sheldon smiled wryly.

He was being rude.

Regardless, Mr. Tremaine had ended things with Xesseca, and his wedding to Qiana was also to take place as scheduled. Him aside, even if Tremaine was here in person he had no right to ask of Yesseça's relationship with Kylin.

"Nothing, Miss Cowell." Sheldon returned to his normal self. "It's just that Preslie's mother had just gotten out of danger. It's not advisable to have too many people in the ward. It wouldn't be good for her recovery. You should ask Kylin to leave."

After Sheldon left, Kylin and Yesseca headed for Celine's ward. However, Kylin didn't go in.

After all, he didn't know anyone else inside aside from Preslie.

He was relieved after confirming with the doctor that Preslie's mother was fine.

He also knew Yesseca would want to stay, so he proposed to make a move first.

Yesseca didn't stop him.

She said, "You should still be able to catch the last flight for the day to the United States. Go and visit your Mom. Don't delay your plan any more because of me."

Kyi in smiled gently and said, "Time with you is never a waste, Yesseca."

Yesseca fell silent.

She hesitated before saying, "Kylin, it will never work out between us. I hope you can find your own happiness in time."

A hint of sadness flashed across Kyi in's eyes, only staying for a split second.

He said, "I am happy, Yesseca. Don't worry for me."

She wanted to say a word of comfort but didn't know what, only saying in the end, "You should get going. Your mom must be waiting for you. The earlier you head for the United States, the earlier you'll get to see her."

After he left, Yesseca entered the ward.

Before she could even see how Celine was doing, Amelia's voice rang out, "Our agreement is still valid; don't you forget it!"

Hearing that, Calter joined in, saying at the top of his lungs, "Yeah! My wife may now be out of danger; you've already promised to give us your store. We have the written proof!"
