Selena noticed the tension in the room and reached out to gently pat Alexa's hand, offering some comfort. "Don't worry, you're safe here with me now."

With Blaine stuck in Paris for the foreseeable future, Alexa could at least find some peace here for a bit.

Turning to Mateo, Selena said, "Mateo, could you..."

She paused, unsure of how to refer to Alexa without confusing the kids, then decided, "Take Aunt Alexa inside and find Ava to help her get settled."

Mateo nodded, then walked over to Alexa, taking her soft hand in his and holding his sister's hand with the other, leading them into the house.

Selena watched them walk away, a slight smile on her face, before picking up her phone to answer a call.

For the first time, Blaine's voice came through the line, harsh and intense. "Selena, do you have any idea what you're doing?"

His anger was clear-using her full name like that.

Standing under the apple tree, Selena looked up at the branches. Her voice was calm but firm. "Blaine, I know exactly what I'm doing. I'm protecting your child, our Irwin family's child."

The once-great Irwin family had nearly fallen apart due to betrayal from the Hodge family in the previous generation.

For the Irwin family to rise and thrive again, it needed the legacy of its future generations. Even though she had two children, they were part of the Bennett family. The future of the Irwin family depended on Blaine and his descendants. Blaine, clouded by anger, wasn't thinking clearly. She had to stay level-headed. Blaine let out a bitter laugh, almost through clenched teeth. "Selena, that child isn't mine. Are you going to turn against me too?"

"Uncle, how can you be so sure the child isn't yours? Alexa doesn't strike me as someone who'd cheat. Even if you took precautions, nothing's foolproof."

She knew this firsthand. Years ago, despite being careful, she and Everett were surprised by Mateo's arrival.

Facing Selena, Blaine didn't mind sharing his difficult truth. "I got injured recently, had a full check-up, and discovered..."

Blaine took a deep breath, lowering his voice. "I have azoospermia."

The news left Selena momentarily speechless. Finally, she found her voice. "Re... really? Are you sure?"

"I'm sure!" Blaine replied, closing his eyes briefly So how could Alexa be pregnant with my child? The only explanation is she ran off with that so-called childhood sweetheart, making a fool of me and having a child that isn't mine!"

"I've already been more than generous by just asking her to terminate the pregnancy!"

Selena was taken aback, feeling like she had stumbled into a soap opera.

"Send her back to Paris right away. Whatever's going on between Alexa and me, stay out of it!"noveldrama

Selena stayed silent, not ready to back down just yet.

Blaine's anger flared up again. "Selena, don't be fooled by Alexa's innocent act. She's not as harmless as she looks. If she stays with you and turns against you like she did with me, it could be dangerous."

"Even if she doesn't harm you, there's Mateo and Haley to think about. They're just kids, innocent and vulnerable. If she has any bad intentions, I can't relax!"

Selena sighed softly. "Uncle, I just

don't see her that way. Plus, the fact

that you fell for her suggests she's

not all bad. How about this: once the baby's stable, I'll take her for a paternity test. If the child is yours, you can try to work things out. If not, I'll step back, okay?"
