Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 765

Selena kept her smile, though her grip on the phone got a bit tighter. After Abraham dropped her off at Crescent Bay, he drove away. Selena stood there, watching his car fade into the distance, as the smile slipped from her face.

As a grown woman, she knew better than to think a guy would be so nice without a reason. Every word Abraham said tonight felt like it had a hidden agenda. She couldn't shake the feeling that he wanted something from her. She hoped it was just her imagination. Because if a guy like him had plans for her, she'd be in for a world of trouble.

With a soft sigh, Selena turned to head back home, only to bump into a solid chest. A cold voice came from above, "Selena, what were you doing with Abraham?"

Hearing that voice made her head throb. Was she just having a run of bad luck lately? Why was everyone trying to start something with her?

Selena looked up into Everett's slightly angry eyes and said calmly, "Mr. Everett, what I do is none of your business." She tried to walk around him.

But Everett grabbed her wrist and pulled her back in front of him. "Selena, why did you block me? I didn't do anything wrong last night, did I?"

He thought he'd been nothing but genuine and sincere with her. Wasn't that enough? Having just dealt with one confrontation, Selena was already wiped out. All she wanted was to go home, take a relaxing shower, put on some comfy pajamas, and cuddle her kids to sleep. She really didn't have the energy for this back-and-forth with him.

Selena took a deep breath, trying to keep her cool as she said, "Everett, aside from the kids, there's really no reason for us to keep in touch. If you want to see them, just get in touch with Ava. She'll handle it."

Her nonchalant attitude only seemed to fan the flames of Everett's frustration. "Selena, I'm asking why you blocked me. What do you mean there's no need for contact? How can there be no need for us to stay in touch?"noveldrama

"Is it that you don't love me anymore? Or is there someone else?"

Selena caught his drift-he was talking about Abraham. She couldn't help but chuckle, though her eyes stayed cold. No matter how steady she tried to be, she always lost her coof around him. He knew exactly how to get under her skin.

She closed her eyes, asking, "Everett, what do you really want? You and Joy seem to be doing great,

probably getting engaged soon.

felt about me, we have kidset

Even if you don't remember how you

I was always honest with you,

why try to make me your secret fling?"

"For your own desires, how are our kids supposed to deal? How am I supposed to deal?"

"Everett, if you have any conscience left, you should stop dragging this out. I, Selena, will not be your kept woman again!"

"And love?"

Her voice broke a bit as tears welled up, though she still tried to keep a brave face. "Everett, you don't love me, so why should I keep loving you? You're always asking for more, but never willing to give anything in return."

Everett was taken aback. She shoved him away with all her might, her voice firm. "Everett, this is the last time I'm saying this—once this project is done, I'm out of here. Don't come looking for me again!"
