Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 742

Blaine shot back without missing a beat, "Nope."

"If anything, it's hatred."

He figured sparing her life was more than generous. He'd provided her with good food, a comfy stay at the mansion, and even the title of Mrs. Turner. What more could she possibly want?

But nope, she'd rather run off with some broke guy than stick around in the lap of luxury!

He'd already been stabbed in the back by her once, and he wasn't about to let it happen again. If she wanted to leave, it'd have to be over his dead body!

Unfortunately for her, he was still very much alive.

Selena smirked, "Answer that fast, and you're telling me there's nothing you're hiding?"noveldrama

Every time Blaine spoke, she had a comeback ready. Frustrated, he clammed up and refused to say more.

Selena sighed softly, her voice gentle.

"Uncle, I'm not trying to run your life or force you into anything. I just want you to let go of the hate and live normally. Whether that means getting a divorce, letting Alexa go, meeting someone amazing, getting hitched, and having kids, or..."

"Or letting go of the past, making things work with Alexa, and having a chubby little kid. Let bygones be bygones."

"You do love kids, don't you? Look how you've spoiled Mateo and Haley. They're already worth millions at their age. With all your assets, you should have your own kids to pass it on to, right? Can't just leave it all to my two, can you?"

Blaine sneered, "Why not? My wealth will go to Mateo and Haley."

Even as he said it, Selena noticed a flicker of doubt in his eyes.

Blaine, like her, had a soft spot-an undeniable craving for family and those emotional ties.

Something that would bind them for life.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have spent years trying to find her.

She was kind of grateful for this side of him, as it kept a bit of humanity in him, stopping him from turning into a revenge-driven shell.

Living without any emotions, just logic? He'd be no different from a robot. Cold and indifferent.

Much like Everett now.

Knowing when to quit, Selena switched gears, bringing up the Newport deal she'd already secured for him.

Blaine nodded, "I've never doubted your skills. Holt also mentioned that even Jason, with all his pride, thinks highly of you."

Selena peeled an apple, chopped it into pieces, and fed them to Mateo one by

one.

Blaine commented, "Weren't those for me?"

Without looking up, Selena replied, "If you want someone to wait on you, find your wife or your future wife. I only serve my son."

"Oh, and if you keep things as they are, when you're old and bedridden, you might find no one around to care for you or even sign your papers."

Every word hit home.

Blaine gritted his teeth, "Niece, I

really appreciate your foresight. Fine, you shouldn't stay in France; I fear

you'lDsend me to an early grave."

"Stick with the Newport project. Jason thinks highly of you, so you're

perfect for overseeing it. I'll be in

France for a while, not just to heal,

but also because..."

He lowered his voice, "There's a mole among us, and I need to ferret them out."

Selena got it instantly.

There was more to Blaine's shooting than met the eye.

Even though she didn't want to go back to Newport, she knew she had to back him up, to keep him steady and make sure he wasn't facing battles on all sides.
