Chapter 673
She spent her whole life chasing after her husband's love, but never caught it, which left her bitter towards everyone around her. She had a grudge against Josh and even against her own son. Her misery made her wish everyone else would be just as miserable, stuck in the same cold, unfeeling world she lived in.
Carolina brushed off her son's sarcastic comments like they were nothing. She pretended not to notice, and once she figured out Everett wasn't interested in Selena anymore, she stopped pushing. Instead, she waved over a young woman with a smile.
"This is Theresa, from the renowned Lynn family in the Capital," she introduced warmly. "She's got a real knack for the arts. You two should definitely chat."
Theresa was stunning, carrying herself with a confident grace. Her eyes held a hint of admiration and affection for Everett, but she wasn't shy about it. She raised her champagne glass to him with ease.
"Mr. Everett, I'm Theresa. It's a pleasure to finally meet you," she said, her voice steady.
Everett, always the gentleman, raised his glass and gently clinked it against hers. "Ms. Theresa, the pleasure's all mine," he replied.
As he took a sip, his Adam's apple moved in a way that seemed to amplify his natural charm. Theresa couldn't help but blush as she watched, feeling her heart flutter unexpectedly.
Meanwhile, in the delivery room, things were getting tense. Selena was in so much pain she drifted in and out of consciousness, the chaotic sounds around her fading into the distance. All she wanted was to close her eyes and drift off into sleep, but her eyelids felt like they weighed a ton.
Out of nowhere, someone took hold of her hand with a firm, warm grip, wrapping it up like they were trying to lend her some strength. The noise around her started to sharpen into focus.
Voices urged her not to fall asleep, telling her she was the unstoppable Selena, that nothing could break her. Her loved ones were waiting, and she needed to bring her sister into the world so they could be a family.
She fought to open her eyes. It was like looking through a fog, but she thought she caught a glimpse of Everett. She tried to see more, but it was beyond her reach.

Luckily, once she started to come around, someone fed her some broth, and her strength began to retum. She worked with the doctors, pushing through. noveldrama
After nearly a full day and night, the sound of a newborn crying finally filled the
room, breaking through the dawn and welcoming a new day.
When Selena woke again, it was afternoon. The first thing she saw was Mateo, asleep with his head on her pillow. His long lashes were still wet with tears, evidence of his earlier distress.
She called to him softly, her voice a little rough, "Mateo."
He hadn't really been sleeping; his eyes flew open at her voice, first with disbelief,
then softening into relief and vulnerability.
Afraid to touch her, he clung to a
strand of her hair, his voice
trembling with emotion. "Mamolnet
you're awake. You didn't die. You
didn't leave me!"
Selena guessed that her tough labor had scared him badly. She quickly started to comfort him with soothing words.
Right then, Ava walked into the room, her eyes misty with emotion upon seeing Selena awake.
"Ma'am, how are you feeling? Anything bothering you?" she asked.
Selena shook her head with a tired smile. "Just a bit worn out, nothing major."
She glanced around the room, not spotting the baby, and her heart skipped a beat with worry.
She asked urgently, "How's the baby? Is everything alright?"
What do you think?
