Chapter 23
The other employees were all surprised up until now, some were smiling, and some were frowning.
Nancy hugged the bouquet and placed it on the floor. She only went to Lyle’s office for a little while, but when she came back, she saw this.
She heard Donna say that Stephen personally brought the flowers here. It seems that if she avoids this pine tree, she will encounter another pine tree.
Lunchtime came, and the previous scene continued. Stephen walked down to the canteen to wait.
Although Nancy deliberately pretended not to see him, took her meal, and went to the corner to sit, he still tried to come next to her.
“Why are you bringing flowers to my office?” Nancy asked angrily.
“Haven’t you already agreed to be my friend? I give flowers to congratulate us.”
Nancy sighed in frustration, running out of words to say to Stephen. No one gives flowers to celebrate making friends. Furthermore, it was a bouquet of roses.
“But giving flowers is not enough, let’s go out to eat after work.” He continued to speak.
“Deputy general director, don’t be so exaggerated.” She wrinkled her forehead and frowned.
“If you refuse, I will bring flowers to you tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow too.”
“Are you terrorizing me?”
“Just consider it that way. How do you decide?”
“Okay, okay, I will obey you.”
After successfully forcing Nancy to accept the invitation, Stephen laughed happily. He felt that the company’s lunch was delicious and he decided not to go out for lunch from now on.
At this moment, from the eighth-floor office, Dylan’s eyes were focused on the man and woman eating together on the computer screen, his eyebrows were furrowed, and his hands were clenched as if he wanted to break the pen.
Could it be that this girl has feelings for Stephen that’s why she chased him away?
Thanks to observing her through the camera every day like this, the day the power went out, he knew that she was still in the editing room.
There were two knocks outside and Paul appeared. He had just bought lunch so he brought it up here. Seeing the boss frowning, he quickly put it down and ran away.
Before Dylan could see Paul’s face, Paul disappeared behind the door.
Dylan was about to stand up when his phone screen lit up. He didn’t see who was calling but still reached out to pick up the phone.
“Dylan.” Rosalind’s voice rang out gently on the other end of the phone.
“What’s up?”
“Let’s meet tonight and have dinner together, okay?”
“I have something to do…”
“Nancy, she is working at Global Group, do you know?”
“I don’t know.”
“Should I tell her about you or not?”
“Rosalind, don’t forget that you promised me.”
“I just want to have a meal with you, is it that difficult?”
“Come and text me the address.”
As soon as the sentence ended, Dylan hung up the phone, his hand squeezing tightly as if he wanted to crush the phone.
Invisible fear crept into his heart that had suffered so much damage.
He was afraid of losing Nancy again, afraid that if she knew he was Nathan, she would leave again, and even the slightest chance for him to win her heart would be gone.
Now only Nancy’s love can ease the pain in his heart. He could not force her heart to love him, nor could he force his heart to stop loving her.
Dylan took the stack of documents and continued to sign, but after he finished signing, he saw that it was all Nancy’s name, so he took out his phone and called Paul.
“Yes, I’m listening.” The assistant’s voice was choked because his mouth was full of rice.
“After lunch later, tell the staff to reprint all the documents from this morning and bring them in for me.”
Nancy had to admit that Stephen was very outstanding. Although he is not a famous person, with such a bright appearance, he attracts attention wherever he goes. She felt like she was also glowing when walking next to him.
Because Stephen did such ostentatious things, everyone in the company now thought they were dating, so when it was time to get off work, Nancy didn’t hesitate to sit in his car.
She wanted the rumors to reach the eighth floor so Dylan could retreat. After all, Stephen had said from the beginning that he wanted to be friends with her, so it would be easier to behave.
The magnificent city is also very small, or maybe it’s because this restaurant is so delicious that everyone wants to come.
After paying, Stephen went to the parking lot to get the car, and Nancy stood at the gate and waited.
She was looking around when she saw Rosalind and Dylan entering at the same time.
“Editor Nancy, what a coincidence, are you also having dinner here?” Rosalind spoke up.
“Yes, I’m going with Stephen.”
“It seems like you two are very close.” Rosalind said while paying attention to Dylan’s face.
“Let’s go inside.”
Dylan said and walked away very quickly, his face showing no emotion. Rosalind also hurriedly followed.
Nancy looked back at their backs, and smiled slightly, she guessed they were a couple.
Although Dylan is only an assistant, he seems to be from a rich family. It seems that Rosalind has been able to forget Nathan and accept new feelings.
Nancy thinks she’s thinking too much, so she’s afraid Dylan has feelings for her.
As soon as Stephen’s car left the restaurant gate, the dishes that Rosalind had pre-ordered also appeared on the table.
The space fell into silence. She saw that Dylan was only focusing on eating, so she hesitantly spoke.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“Nancy…”
“Don’t remind her in front of me, I’m eating.” Dylan did not raise his head and interrupted.
“The more you act like this, the more it proves that you care for her.”
“Rosalind, can you forgive someone who once brought you to the edge of life and death? Can you still love that person?”
“I can’t…”
“Me too, but she is doing a good job at Global Group and bringing profits to the group. I’m a business person, I keep what’s profitable.”
“Then why did you say the other day you didn’t know her?”
“I’m Dylan. Dylan doesn’t know the girl named Nancy.”
Hearing Dylan’s excuse, Rosalind stopped asking. She also hoped that what he said today was true.
If over the years, he dated a few other girls or agreed to be with her, maybe she would believe him.
She hoped Nancy would fall in love with Stephen. As long as Nancy loves Stephen, Dylan will have no more expectations.
