Chapter 2: 2
Chapter 2: 2
Kinsley sat in front of the desk at LA’s Angels Escort Service. The man behind the desk had been eyeing her up, trying to decide if she would make him money. Mackenzie had told her that the company had high standards for their girls. She had been forced to take an STD test yesterday to assure her new employer she was clean because clean girls were one of their major selling factors. “You say you are twenty-one?” NôvelDrama.Org © content.
“Yes, Sir.”
“And you have never been an escort before?”
“No.”
“So why now?”
“I need the money, and a friend of mine suggested I work for you.”
“Well, you are very pretty, and your lab work came back saying you are clean, so that is all good. I am just concerned you will not go through with it. You just do not seem the type. I cannot have one of my girls get to the client and then refuse to do the job. When that happens, I not only have to give the client back his money, but I have to double it to abide by my guarantee. You understand I lose money when girls get cold feet. I need to know you will not back out.”
“I need the money,” Kinsley repeated.
“I do not care. I am running a business, not a charity. I need to know you will not chicken out.”
“Sir, if I do not do this, I am going to be starving to death on the street. I have no other options but to do this. I will do what I have to in order to survive.”
“Ok,” he said and stamped her paperwork with ‘approved’ then handed the papers to her. “Take this over to dispatch down the hall and to the left. You cannot miss it.”
Kinsley left the office and made her way to the dispatch room. She handed her paperwork to one woman behind a desk and then was told to go sit at another desk for her first assignment.
The middle-aged woman behind the desk was typing on her computer and talking on an earpiece. While she sorted through her clients' calls and assigned various different girls to each, she then looked at Kinsley and apologized, saying she had nothing for her at the moment. She asked her to leave her contact number. Kinsley cringed. She did not have a number they could call.
Before Kinsley could confess, she had no number. The woman put up her finger to silence her and then touched her Bluetooth bud to take a call. “LA’s Angels,” she said, and then her face lit up. “Oh, yes, of course. When would he like the girl to arrive, and how long would he like her to stay?” She asked, typing on her computer while the other person spoke. “Of course, we could accommodate him. Does he have any preferences this evening?” Again, she listened to what he had to say. “Yes, let me see which girls I have available that fit his request,” she said, typing on her computer and bringing up employee files. “I have two that fit his request… oh… I am sorry, it looks like they are both spoken for tonight,” suddenly, she looked at Kinsley and smiled. “Actually, I have a new girl that fits the bill if you are interested,” she paused. “Perfect. You have a wonderful night,” she ended the gall. “Well, it looks like you have a job tonight,” she said as she took a pad of paper and began to write a name, address, and time on the paper. She tore it off and handed it to Kinsley. “You will be entertaining his majesty, Nicholas Kane.”
Kinsley stared at her blankly. “His majesty?”
“Nicholas Kane is the Crowned Prince of Kustium, a small wealthy country in eastern Europe. He has been living in California for the last six months. He is our best and most important client. So, do not
screw this up. You do whatever it takes to keep him happy… WHATEVER it takes. You will show up at this address by eight tonight, and you will stay indefinitely.”
“Indefinitely?” She repeated.
“Yes, you stay until he bores of you and sends you home. The longer, the better. The longer he keeps you, the more we can bill, and the more you get paid. As long as he is entertained, we both make money.”
Kinsley stood up to leave. She looked down at the paper and realized the address was out in the country. There would be no bus service out there. “Um, I do not have a car. How do I get to this address?”
“Take a taxi; we will bill the expense to the client,” Kinsley nodded and made to leave. “Oh, and Kinsley, the man is royalty, so dress classy,” she just smiled. She would have to go through her closet and see what she could throw together.
