Gautier had anticipated that Emmanuel might suddenly target him, which was why he had deliberately positioned himself over a hundred yards away. Yet, to his shock, Emmanuel still attacked him from such an incredible distance.

“Miles, help me!”

Fortunately, Teddy had left him with capable fighters, including Miles. But Miles was terrified as well. Emmanuel seemed to belong to an entirely different realm of martial arts–what kind of fighter could unleash such a violent attack from that far away?!

Is he even human?!

Without hesitation, Miles grabbed a nearby member of the Grand Hunt Alliance and threw him into the path of Emmanuel’s attack before retreating with Gautier to the rear.

“Ahhh!”

The poor soul, who had nothing to do with the situation, instantly became Emmanuel’s first casualty.

Boom!

Watching Emmanuel kill someone from a hundred yards away was both soul–shaking and visually stunning.

Those who had initially intended to join Aora, Gwain, and Yorick in their assault against Emmanuel immediately hesitated, stepping back to reconsider whether they were qualified to approach the battlefield. After all, this was a fight between apex predators–no rabbit should be sticking their nose into a brawl among tigers!

“I’ll deal with you later, Verkade–hahaha!” Emmanuel’s blood was pumping, his spirit soaring with exhilaration.

Facing such overwhelming odds, he knew there was a high chance he wouldn’t make it out alive. So, he decided to treat it as his last service to his country.

Pointing straight at Yorick, he roared, “Come on, Yorick Dotson! Let me show you the power of Chanaea’s martial arts!”

Wasting no time, Emmanuel unleashed the first technique of the Dragon–Breaking Palm: Dragon Roar!

Yorick’s eyes gleamed with excitement as he leaped into the air to meet Emmanuel head–on, throwing a Savage Tiger Strike to counter the incoming palm.

Fist and palm collided with a thunderous impact, and Emmanuel let out a furious shout, twisting his arm to deflect Yorick’s fist. Without pause, he struck out with both hands toward Gwain and Aora, who had been eyeing the opportunity to strike.

Both men were caught off guard. They hadn’t expected Emmanuel to still have the strength to attack them after clashing with Yorick at full force.

Their first instinct was to dodge. Neither of them wanted to waste energy trading blows with Emmanuel- they preferred to wait for the others to wear him down and then swoop in for the kill.

Gwain immediately executed the Swallow Leap technique, retreating, with speed and grace.

Though Aora’s footwork wasn’t as agile as Gwain’s, he skillfully borrowed momentum from the surrounding terrain, slapping Emmanuel’s attack aside before withdrawing just as swiftly.

Even as he battled three top fighters simultaneously, Emmanuel still managed to glance toward Mackenzie.

Picking up his silent cue, Mackenzie quickly called out, “Chancellor, it’s too dangerous here. We should head down the mountain!”

She knew Emmanuel was worried that while he was locked in combat with the three masters, someone else might target her or Ethan.

Though she was deeply concerned for her husband, she also understood that leaving would ease Emmanuel’s burden. And even if the worst came to pass and Emmanuel had to retreat, it would be exceedingly difficult for anyone to stop him.

“Alright.” Ethan, too, understood the situation. He knew that many people on Divine Mountain wanted him dead, so it was best to leave now.

But before they could take a single step, a line of Imperial Guards blocked their path.

One of the captains stepped forward and said coldly, “Mayor Zelinsky has ordered us to guard the chancellor until the prayer ceremony concludes. Please refrain from moving around unnecessarily.”

“What?”

Many people couldn’t believe their ears.

Mackenzie immediately grasped what was happening–Ezra was using his authority to ensure Ethan met an ‘accidental‘ end on Divine Mountain.

“Step aside!” Hattie shouted, trying to pressure them into yielding. “Mr. Hale needs to rest–are you seriously going to disobey his orders?”

“Apologies,” the captain replied stiffly. “The Imperial Guard answers only to Mayor Zelinsky. If the chancellor wishes to change his schedule, he’ll need to contact Mayor Zelinsky directly and have him issue new orders.”

The Imperial Guard captain stood his ground, refusing to move.

Mackenzie quickly glanced toward Emmanuel.

At that moment, Emmanuel was locked in combat with the three top fighters–and he was holding the upper hand. His relentless, life–or–death fighting style allowed him to unleash the Dragon–Breaking Palm with every move. Even Yorick dared not continuously clash with him head–on, let alone the other two.

But Mackenzie feared that if the fight dragged on, her husband wouldn’t be able to hold out.

What should she do? She and Ethan couldn’t risk distracting Emmanuel or adding to his burden. Yet, she worried that Gautier might take advantage of the chaos, leading other fighters to attack her and Ethan.

“Peace be with you.”

At that critical moment, Zen Master called out to Emmanuel while he was exchanging blows with Yorick. “Commander, focus on your battle with Shoiya’s martial saint. The Chapel of Oros will ensure the safety of

the chancellor and your wife!”

At that, Master Dalton and Master Dhyana stepped forward with a group of friars, positioning themselves to shield Mackenzie, Ethan, and the others.

With that worry lifted from his mind, Emmanuel could now fight without hesitation.

Still, Mackenzie’s heart remained heavy. Can Emmanuel really defeat all three of them?

The battle between four of the world’s strongest martial artists shook the very peak of Divine Mountain, and the sound of their clashes echoed all the way to the foot of the mountain.

At that moment, a pair of striking figures arrived at the base of Divine Mountain.

“Xarri, are we going to force our way up?” Quell asked, gazing toward the summit.

She couldn’t fathom who might be battling atop the mountain, but the intensity of the fight seemed even more terrifying than the Double–S–Class clashes she’d witnessed on the Dark Night Islands.

“That would waste too much time,” Xarri replied, his eyes fixed on the summit with a sharp, knowing gaze. “We need to reach the top as quickly as possible. If Emmanuel dies, Zovince will fall–and Chanaea will follow.”

Before they could act, their path was blocked by a dense line of Imperial Guards.

At the front of the group stood Emery, holding what appeared to be a wooden staff–or perhaps a rifle barrel.

“Sir, you can’t go up the mountain today,” Emery said firmly, raising one hand to signal his men to hold their ground.

The elderly man looked up, his face weathered and weary, but he offered a gentle smile. “I have an appointment with an old rival at 2 p.m. The time is almost here–I must go up.”

“An old rival?

Emery and his men exchanged puzzled glances, imagining the man had come to play chess with a fellow elder.

One of the guards chuckled and said, “Sir, today’s prayer ceremony is a matter of national importance, and Shoiya’s martial saint is challenging our entire country. Catching up with an old friend will have to wait.”

“But if I don’t go up, who will he fight?” The old man chuckled again, eyes gleaming with mischief.

Then, he opened the wooden cylinder in his hands, and a flash of silver light burst forth, dazzling everyone

present.

Even Quell gasped. “What is that light? It’s incredible!”

In the blink of an eye, the cylinder transformed as if releasing a silver dragon that shot into the sky.

With a single leap, the old man jumped onto the silver dragon—and in a flash, he vanished from sight.

“W–What just happened?”

“Was that… was that an immortal?”

The crowd at the base of the mountain erupted in shock, rubbing their eyes as if trying to confirm what they had just witnessed. But the silver light had already disappeared into the dense forest of Divine Mountain.

“Now’s our chance, Quell―move!”

Taking advantage of the distraction, Xarri waved his hand, and he and Quell vanished into the shadows, slipping past the Imperial Guards and ascending Divine Mountain.
