Love at the Wrong Table
Chapter 2287 I’m Not That Kind of Person!
“In for a penny, in for a pound!”
Aurora pressed on. “Deep down, you know what’s right and what’s wrong. I hope you’ll choose justice over family loyalty!”
“Enough! Stop talking!” Blake clamped his hands over his cars, acting like he couldn’t bear to hear another word.
“Blake, listen to me!” Nathan grabbed his shoulders, his voice urgent. “You’re a citizen of Chanaea! Right now, Zen Master is fighting for all of us. If he loses, we’ll be humiliated in front of those people and the millions of Shoiyans behind them! Do you really want to see them walking around, looking down on us like we’re nothing?”
His words were loud and powerful!
Blake glanced at the Shoiya people, who were jumping around excitedly, looking smug and arrogant.
Meanwhile, the majority of the Chanaea citizens wore solemn expressions.
“Ugly freak! Don’t you love beautiful women?”
Nathan took a different approach. “If you help Zen Master win, I’ll give you all my girlfriends—a hundred of them including socialites, supermodels, and even royal princesses!”
Blake, struggling with his decision, suddenly had a gleam in his eye and muttered, “Are you serious?”
Hattie and Aurora were lost for words.
Turns out, no matter how heavy loyalty is, it can be outweighed by something as light as a quick word, huh?
“I’m serious! Ms. Hattie and everyone here can be witnesses!” Nathan pounded his chest confidently. “Everyone knows I’m a man of my word and never break a promise!“”
Upon hearing this, several people around them gave Nathan a thumbs–up.
Most people in Zovince knew he was a man of his word.
“Alright…” Blake sighed. “But let me be clear–I’m not doing this for the women, okay? I’m just not that kind of guy. I’m doing this for Chanaea, for justice, for our people—”
“Enough!” Hattie quickly interrupted. “We all know you’re not that kind of person. Just cut to the chase, or Zen Master will keep wasting his energy and won’t last much longer!”
“Fine!”
Blake had a feeling that even though they said they understood him, they didn’t believe him. Still, he braced himself and deliberately raised his voice, saying, “Did you guys know? For those of us who practice the Golden Bell, there’s no such thing as a Shadowless Cloak!”
As soon as he said this, countless eyes turned toward him.
Even Zen Master seemed to perk up slightly!
Just as Blake had mentioned, despite being brothers, he and Yorick had a significant age gap. They never really played together as children. noveldrama
Yorick had left home to train at sixteen, while Blake had just been born at the time. Later, Yorick moved to Shoiya and disappeared for over twenty years.
So, despite their blood ties, they had barely spent any time together. Blake had visited massage parlors more often than he had seen his brother!
Now that Blake was siding with Zen Master, Yorick found it completely unsurprising.
“But the top–tier Golden Bell practitioners aren’t just impervious to knives and guns, or even immune to cannon blasts. They can also shift their position and move their weak spots!”
Now that he had everyone’s attention, Blake grew even more enthusiastic. “There’s a weak spot, though! If it’s not a natural crack, then it’s a wound from an injury that can’t heal. The thing with Golden Bell practitioners is, the more injuries they have, the more weaknesses they expose!”
Hearing this, Zen Master, who had previously felt hopeless, suddenly had a spark in his eyes. He had already attacked Yorick’s usual weak points without success. This meant Yorick must have shifted them to an old injury!
Against an unfamiliar opponent, Zen Master would have been helpless.
After all, how could he know where an enemy’s unhealed wound was?
Even Blake didn’t know, so there was nothing more he could say. Now, it was all up to the Zen Master’s own skills!
However, Zen Master did know.
Jane had once visited the church a long time ago to seek atonement, claiming she had committed the greatest of all sins.
The Zen Master had used religious teachings to console her.
Back then, she had confessed that she felt deep guilt for severely injuring two men–one physically and the other emotionally. She once used her finger to pierce a man’s right heart, which later resulted in his
courage.
It all clicked!
As he recalled this, Zen Master suddenly leaped into the air, unleashing a barrage of energy strikes.
His speed, precision, and sheer determination left everyone stunned!
Yorick raised both hands, activating his Golden Bell to defend himself.
Clang! Clang! Clang!
The usual metallic ringing echoed through the air, but a barely noticeable, different sound then rang out.
Poof!
Finally, Zen Master spotted the only weakness in Yorick’s Golden Bell.
Finished
Without hesitation, he swiftly adjusted his finger technique, unleashing an even sharper burst of internal energy straight toward his opponent’s right atrium.
This time, the Golden Bell failed to withstand the attack. With a loud bang, the energy force shattered through it!
Yorick spun midair, twisting several times before crashing down. He landed on one knee, one hand pressed against the ground and the other clutching his wound. His once–proud head hung low in defeat.
The audience erupted in gasps!
The noise wasn’t deafening, yet it sent chills down everyone’s spines. Is it over? Are we witnessing the dramatic conclusion of this intense battle?
The once–cheerful Shoiyans fell silent in an instant, their excitement vanishing. Along with the rest of the audience, they were plunged into a deathly stillness.
The thin friar slowly lowered his hand, wiping away the sweat that streamed down his forehead like water. Taking a deep breath, he bowed deeply toward his opponent. “It’s a battle well fought,” he acknowledged humbly.
Gwain’s gaze remained locked onto Yorick. Could it be? Is the Tiger Saint of War truly finished just because his Golden Bell is broken? Even if I were the one fighting, I know I wouldn’t be able to break his Golden Bell. But this? This isn’t at all what I expected. No way. The Tiger Saint of War, someone who had once shaken me to my core, couldn’t have gone down this easily…
“Hehe…”
Sure enough, the next moment, Yorick lifted his head and sneered coldly.
The Zen Master shuddered violently. The moment he saw that smile, an ominous feeling crept over him. It seemed that his attack hadn’t caused Yorick any real harm–only a superficial wound.
“Zen Master, I admit you’re stronger than before. You’re the only one among the Eight Supremes who can hurt me, but that’s where it ends!”
Yorick stood up effortlessly.
The crowd was left stunned, some even subconsciously stepping back in fear. Even if Yorick wasn’t their opponent, the oppressive feeling he gave off–like facing a final boss in a game–was suffocating!
“This…” Zen Master’s breath hitched, but he quickly regained his composure and bowed again. “Your strength is truly unparalleled, Yorick. I am in awe.”
“Awe won’t save you.” Yorick suddenly gritted his teeth, his eyes turning ice–cold. “I returned to Chanaea to defeat
you and kill you. Only by crushing every so–called righteous hero will I finally satisfy the hatred I’ve carried for twenty years!”
The sight of those blood–red eyes made even Gwain flinch, almost taking a step back.
Fortunately, he managed to hold himself back. If anyone had seen that, it would have been too embarrassing!
“I never thought there’d be someone stronger than me.”
Aora gritted his teeth in frustration. He thought that after mastering the Dragon’s reached the top, but now, seeing Yorick’s power, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of inferiority. And what was even scarier–Yorick hadn’t even gone all out yet!
