Chapter 3 Don’t Push Your Luck

Joseph had been waiting for a long time. His eyes filled with anxiety, showing no concern for her at all.

Maggie could only blame herself for being so foolish. Why didn’t I see through him before? He is nothing but a hypocrite! Meeting her blood-red gaze, Joseph was taken aback for a few seconds. “Maggie, I know you’re upset, but we must be realistic now. We need to fight for more benefits. Otherwise, we’re just taking a loss for nothing.”

“Nathael didn’t agree to the project in Chronopolis.”

Maggie lowered her eyes, hiding the disgust in them. She couldn’t fall out with Joseph yet. She should catch them off guard. There were still many things she needed to figure out. Joseph frowned slightly, somewhat dissatisfied.

“What about the data you copied?” Only then did Maggie remember that she had been deceived by the Camerons’ lies and copied a lot of business secrets from Nathael’s computer. Even though Nathael knew everything, he still gave in to her request. It was ridiculous that she and the Camerons thought they had outsmarted Nathael but didn’t realize she was trampling on his sincerity and trust!

Thinking of this, Maggie felt a tightness in her chest, making breathing almost impossible.

“It’s on my phone. My phone is out of battery. I’ll send it to you when I get home.”

Upon hearing this, Joseph’s face lit up. “Maggie, don’t worry. I will avenge you one day and step on Nathael!”

A hint of mockery flashed in Maggie’s eyes. She would repay the debts of the past life in this life. If they wanted to hurt Nathael, they would have to step over her dead body first!

“I have another plan for the project in Chronopolis. Last night, someone photographed you and Nathael entering and leaving the guest room together. We could consider holding a press conference and exposing the plagiarism of the Polar Night Club and Nathael’s indecent conduct. I don’t believe he’ll disagree then!”

Joseph’s gaze brimmed with calculation. Maggie’s heart sank a bit. Polar Night was a top-tier entertainment club built by Nathael and the Adams. She approached Nathael with her design when the club was in its initial stages. Nathael agreed to use her design, but little did he know it was a trap set for him from the beginning. From NôvelDrama.Org.

Since then, the accusations of plagiarism and misconduct have forever tarnished the reputation of the man who was once beyond reach and reserved. Maggie still remembered the look of disappointment in his eyes when she publicly accused him of violating

her. It was heartbreaking to even look at him.

After exchanging a few perfunctory words, she wasted no more time with Joseph. She had to hurry and find Nathael. She couldn’t let him transfer the Chronopolis project to the Camerons. After leaving, Maggie quickly found Nathael’s number on her phone. Fortunately, she had been in collusion with the Camerons from the beginning, so his number was still saved in her phone. Unfortunately, no matter how many times she called, no one answered.

Nathael sat in his office, looking at the phone on the desk that had been ringing for nearly twenty minutes with a gloomy gaze. Just as Maggie was about to give up, thinking he wouldn’t answer, the call was suddenly picked up.

A cold male voice came from the other end of the line, tinged with impatience, “Maggie, don’t push your luck.”

He knew the only reason she would be so persistent in finding him was that she wanted something. But he couldn’t bring himself to ignore the call. He couldn’t harden his heart towards her.

“Nathael.”

The sudden male voice made Maggie’s mind go blank for a moment.

“The Adams are the best partner for the project in Chronopolis, not the Camerons.”

He was telling the truth. Back then, Nathael agreed to cooperate with the Camerons on this project because of her scheming. But the Camerons had been corrupt from the start. They had engaged in corruption, resorting to shortcuts and nepotism. In the end, numerous lives were lost on the construction site, and Nathael bore the blame for it. The Adams lost the project and decided to purchase a plot of land in the eastern suburbs instead. Unfortunately, a tomb was later discovered on the site, resulting in a financial loss.

Nathael’s eyes turned cold. He didn’t want to know what she was planning. She had been scheming for the Camerons, but suddenly regretted it. He probably thought she wanted more.

“The project in Chronopolis is my biggest compromise. You should know when to stop.”

After that, the call ended, leaving only a busy tone. Maggie was left speechless. Perhaps she had used and deceived him so often that now he didn’t believe a word she said. Tears welled up in Maggie’s eyes, and she laughed at herself. Indeed. If she were in his shoes, she wouldn’t believe that a person could suddenly change either.

But regardless, she had to prevent him from collaborating with the Camerons on the Chronopolis project. She hailed a taxi and headed straight for the Emberglow Residence. She remembered that was where Nathael lived. She planned to wait for him there

and explain everything face-to-face.

Maggie waited for a long time at the entrance of the Emberglow Residence. As it was a high-end district in Aquapolis, entry was strictly regulated, and the security guards denied her access. As Maggie waited, the sky grew darker. She was unsure if she would be able to see Nathael.

At eight in the evening, a black Bentley slowly pulled up at the entrance. From a distance, Alex Solace recognized Maggie. He subconsciously furrowed his brows and remained silent, fearing that she was here to bother Nathael again. It wasn’t surprising that Alex was dissatisfied. Every time Maggie sought out Mr. Harris, it was never for anything good.

Alex glanced at Nathael through the rearview mirror. He sat in the back seat, his face unusually pale with closed eyes, seemingly dozing off and unaware of Maggie’s presence. Reacting quickly, Alex accelerated, aiming to enter the residence swiftly and prevent direct interaction between them. Nathael, known for his ruthless and decisive nature, appeared strangely captivated whenever Maggie was involved, as if under an inexplicable spell. It wasn’t until the car smoothly entered the residence that Alex breathed a sigh of relief.

However, Alex didn’t expect the handsome man in the car’s back seat to slowly open his eyes and look into the rearview mirror just as he accelerated. A familiar, slender figure stood at the entrance of the residence, gazing inside.

Nathael’s throat tightened, and his thin lips pressed together.

After a moment, he said in a deep voice, “Reverse.”

Alex seethed with frustration, but he didn’t dare to show it. He silently shifted gears and reversed the car back to the residence’s entrance. Maggie anxiously waited. At this moment, she couldn’t remember Nathael’s license plate number. Just as she regretted that the Bentley had passed by too quickly for her to identify it, she saw the car reversing back. The car window slowly rolled down a moment later, revealing a cold, determined face. The man’s intense gaze lifted slightly, piercing and resolute, locking onto her.

“Didn’t I warn you not to appear in front of me again?”

Maggie was stunned for a few seconds, then quickly stepped forward, opened the car door, and got in. The whole process was smooth and swift.

Are you kidding me? I might not have had another chance to see you if I hadn’t seized this opportunity.

Alex looked at the woman who had settled in comfortably, a twitch forming in his eye. Nathael frowned and said with a cold tone, “Get out of the car!”

“I won’t!”
