Let Me Go, My Mafia Husband

Chapter 501

Chapter 501 Jealousy *Selena*

"Selena, more wine, please," Avery ordered in a voice too sweet to be genuine, the look of victory unmistakable on her face.

I quickly took the bottle from the counter behind me and promptly moved toward the table.

Strictly keeping my eyes only on the glasses, I poured wine when their whispering caught my attention. Though I didn't want to peek, I could see them from the corner of my eyes as they were sitting precisely before me. Avery leaned closer to Zander's chest, whispering something in his ears. Zander smirked, looking at her.

Avery's eyes were fixed on Zander's lips as he told her about his trip. She shifted closer promptly, their lips an inch apart. My heartbeat shot up.

I was so nervous... and scared that I would make some mistakes, and my hand trembled as the wine overflowed the glass.

Shit. I tried to stop liquid from spilling out of it, and my clumsy hand accidentally hit the glass, and it fell, dripping the red liquor on Avery's dress and her thighs. Oh, no!

Startled, Zander and Avery jumped to their feet quickly.

"Fuck!" Avery groaned, looking at her dress.

"I...I am so sorry. I am so sorry," I gasped.

Avery glared at me, clenching her teeth as she frequently wiped the wetness from her dress.

"Avery, you should wash it quickly. Otherwise, it will have a stain," Zander suggested in his calm voice.

"But our date?!" Avery whimpered.

"We will have another date some other day," he assured her as he ushered her toward the car.

"Are you coming?" She asked in her demanding tone.

"I will join you at the pack house. You go," he instructed sternly.

I felt guilt clawing my chest for spoiling their date.

Shit!

What happened to me? How could I act so irrationally?

I wanted to hit my head on a rock. It was so embarrassing.

"So you did it intentionally?!" A deep voice pulled me out of my remorseful moment.

"Excuse me?!" I frowned, turning to glance at my accuser. "What are you talking about? I have no idea what you're accusing me of," I said calmly, trying to keep my emotions in check.

"You are jealous!" He announced, smirking as his voice taunted me.

"I am not!" I hissed, glaring at him.

"Yes, you are!" He said, looking into my eyes and the confidence in his voice made me want to smack his cheek.

Arrogant prick.

But I controlled my anger and stopped myself from doing something that gave him more reason to be happy. "You're delusional!" I whispered, and turning my back, I began clearing the table.

He grabbed my arm, making me turn toward him. A spark erupted in my skin where he touched it. I tried my best to push that feeling far away before he noticed it. But the truth was it was so hard for me not to gasp as my body began trembling with his proximity. The Alpha's aura was so dominating and very intimidating.

"You are jealous, and you have spilled the wine on my date's dress because of jealousy. In the same way, as you did to Princess Ella when she was here as our guest and trying to get close to me," he reminded me, looking deep into my eyes and challenging me to refuse it if I could.

"It.. it was different at that time. We were mates and..." I looked at him in disdain.

"And?!" He frowned as I snatched my arm from his grasp.

"Now we are ex-mates," I announced, reminding him of our reality.

"But still, you want me," he said smugly.

I snickered. His ego was so huge.

What the hell did he think about himself?

"You think so highly of yourself, Your Highness," I snorted.

"You don't want to admit it, Selena, but you still want me," he cocked his head before throwing his scrutinizing gaze at me. "Otherwise, what else could be the reason for you to be here?"

"You are wrong. I am here because you forced me to work for your future Luna," I snapped at him.

"Really! Is this the only reason?!" He challenged, "Tell me the truth. Why are you here, Selena?! Why did you come back all of a sudden when I was going to remarry?"

He was degrading me again, just like he always used to do when we were together, breaking me bit by bit and making me think it was my fault.

"You know what?! Fuck you!" I yelled as tears welled up in my eyes.

I didn't care about that job and him. But I couldn't bear his arrogance anymore. So I ran off to the other side of the lake before he could see what he had done to me. I couldn't bear that arrogant smirk on his face after seeing the tears in my eyes. So I ran and kept running until my legs gave up. I had no idea where I was going, but I just wanted to escape from him and the ghost of the shadow of our past.

When I stopped, I realized I had gone so far, and only darkness was everywhere. The forest had become so dense in this part of the woods that the moonlight couldn't filter through the vast covering of leaves of the tall trees.

In the past, during my time in the Moonglow pack, Zander had never let me go toward the dense forest because I was wolfless. However, I was stronger and faster than an average human, and my senses were also more active. So, believing in my nonexistent animalistic instinct, I began to find a way back to the pack house.

I twirled around, inspecting the surroundings in the darkness, and decided to follow the path on which I came this way.

But when I turned, I found no particular path but only lots of trees around me that were barely visible.

Now I hated Zander even more.

My head snapped to the right when I heard some noise before a rotten smell made me nauseous.

Rogues?

The next moment, I saw two pairs of red eyes gleaming in the dark followed by the appearance of two big shadows.

Because of the dark night and dimly lit forest, I could only outline the shadows, which appeared to be wolves, as I guessed earlier. Before I got alert, one of them lunged at me. I quickly ducked, escaping his attack.

My heart was pounding as I realized the danger I had just narrowly avoided. I took a deep breath and tried to steady myself, ready for whateve might come next. It was a tense moment, but I knew I had to stay focused and keep my wits about me. As I looked around, I saw the other wolf closing in, his eyes fixed on me with a mix of curiosity and hostility. I knew I had to act fast if I wanted to stay safe.

My heart raced as another figure approached me, causing me to retreat quickly a few steps until I was pressed against a sturdy tree squinted in the dim light before

I could faintly make out the shape of the wolf as it charged toward me, baring its teeth.

As I saw him lunging at me, I instinctively moved out of his way. He didn't see the large tree trunk in front of him and collided with it with incredible force. The impact was so severe that he fell to the ground and let out a loud howl of pain.

I could not get time to be pleased as his partner growled angrily, and he ran towards me. As he jumped, I knelt and slid beneath him, punching his stomach hard to make him fall far away from me. Their stomachs were the most delicate part of their bodies. My eyes quickly scanned my surroundings to find a way to escape.

I dashed in a direction believing on

my instinct, but I had to stop in my

track as one of the wolves jumped before me. I staggered back promptly and fell on my ass. My eyes fixed on the wolf as he jumped, and

drolled to the side, making him fall behind me. But he was quick to turn and lunged at my head. My heart came into my mouth as I placed my hands on the ground, pushing myself backward.

"Ah!!!" A painful scream left my throat.noveldrama

The fücking dog caught my leg in his dirty jaws, trying to bite it off my body.

My hands moved frantically in pain, finding a stick as I poked it into the wolf's eye. The wolf let out a yelp and retreated, giving me a moment to catch my breath. But my relief was short-lived as another wolf lunged at me, sending me into a panic as I desperately covered my face with my arms.

I waited for two heartbeats to uncover my eyes when I heard a painful cry before a powerful growl.
