Legend of Dragon Son-in-law

Chapter 1609: Mysterious Person

Chapter 1609: Chapter 1609: Mysterious Person

"Isaba, why go there?" Ian Jorden was utterly puzzled, knowing full well there was something suspicious about the well, yet choosing to leave it for a farther place.

"From my understanding of Eliezer Pine, she’s undoubtedly a meticulous person. The City Lord mentioned that Eliezer Pine wants him to protect the City Lord’s Mansion. Moreover, he stressed this well. The real secret is certainly not the well!"

Isabella Warm observed the peculiar well before her, her delicate brows furrowed: "There’s definitely something wrong with this well. But what Eliezer Pine is determined to protect surely isn’t this well!"

Once said, without waiting for Ian Jorden to speak again, she took the map and vanished into the wild grass.

The City Lord’s Mansion occupies a vast area.

Crossing two diagonals is far less easy than it appears on the map.

The complex buildings, along with refugees coming in to search for treasures from time to time, act as obstructions.

Isabella Warm cautiously navigated through the buildings, climbed over walls, gradually heading toward the corner marked on the map.

"Have you been to the location on the map?" she whispered.

This is the City Lord’s Mansion, where Ian Jorden has lived longer, naturally knowing more.

While she had just come here, only briefly passing through.

"I haven’t really been there." Ian Jorden rubbed his head, a bit baffled. "The City Lord’s Mansion is so large, the corners are either abandoned buildings or places for storing miscellaneous items. As the City Lord, I have no reason to go there!"

"Be careful!" Isabella Warm took a deep breath, treading lightly.

Along the way, they cleverly avoided those meandering through the City Lord’s Mansion.

The closer they got to the location on the map, the more anxious Isabella Warm felt!

The environment here is somewhat terrifying!

No matter how remote, it’s still part of the City Lord’s Mansion.

But all Isabella Warm’s eyes could see was desolation!

Ruined beyond repair!

The further they went, the more severe the situation became!

"Do you feel it?" Isabella Warm closed her eyes, a bit startled: "It’s getting stronger."

"What?" Ian Jorden, less adept than Isabella Warm, only felt profoundly uneasy.

"Killing intent! It’s killing intent!" Isabella Warm moved her throat, a bead of sweat forming on her forehead: "Martial Artists who sense the Heavenly Dao, the mightier the Martial Artist, the more intense this atmosphere becomes!"

She pointed to the withered grass on the ground: "Look, these plants have been corroded by killing intent year after year, causing them to revive each spring, only to die in summer. And further in, not even grass grows."

Desolate.

The abandoned courtyard where the ancient well was, overrun with weeds.

But now, at the opposite corner to the well’s position, cold and deserted.

Only ruined buildings, devoid of any vegetation or trash.

Having walked over ten meters, Ian Jorden, even without Isabella Warm’s words, could feel the pressure!

The heart racing, breath quickening, indescribable agony!

"Be careful!" Isabella Warm took a deep breath, arduously advancing inside.

Finally!

Reached the neglected building in the corner!

It’s a small courtyard!

A chain hung on the courtyard gate.

However, the chain was opened, and the time of opening should have been within the past few days.

The damaged area of the lock still looked brand new.

"Damn it! Someone beat us to it!" Ian Jorden’s heart sank, nervously clenching his fists.

At the onset of conflict, the City Lord fled, resulting in internal chaos in Swimming City.

Many took the opportunity to storm into the City Lord’s Mansion, seizing treasures.

It seems this place has also been raided.

"Get inside!" Isabella Warm grew even more tense!

Back then, she orchestrated Ian Jorden’s fake death not just for the Divine Dragon Tripod but to uncover the truth of those years!

Inside the City Lord’s Mansion, the man inside the stone coffin hadn’t spoken for years!

Until today, Isabella Warm finally opened his mouth.

If the painstakingly found clues vanished, all their efforts would be for naught!

Crash!

The door was pushed open.

The two rushed in one after another.

But just as they stepped into the small courtyard, they all halted.

Isabella Warm instinctively turned around, leaning against the door to vomit!

Ian Jorden similarly covered his mouth and nose, a wave of nausea from his stomach.

Bodies littered the ground!

In disarray!

Chopped into minced meat!

Even discerning shapes was impossible!

Swimming City being humid and warm!

These broken bodies began to decay!

Yet strangely, there weren’t any flies on the decaying bodies.

"Whew!"

Isabella Warm took out a handkerchief, covering her mouth and nose, intending to skirt the bodies and move forward.

But suddenly, she sensed something amiss.

"Don’t go in yet!" Isabella Warm pulled Ian Jorden back, cautiously eyeing the straw hut. "Who killed them? Who’s inside?"

"Could it be due to uneven division of spoils?" Ian Jorden pondered for a moment, seemingly the only possibility. noveldrama

"Impossible!" Isabella Warm’s eyes filled with fear: "If that were the case, just killing would suffice; why do such a thing? A wasteful act, why do it?"

"Then..." Ian Jorden couldn’t fathom.

He was a fighter, though somewhat intelligent, ultimately not a wise man.

In his view, they should charge inside right away!

Directly push open the door, see if what’s inside hasn’t been taken.

"Look at them dead; it appears they were unprepared." Isabella Warm frowned, suppressing her nausea, closely examining the wounds.

Shattered into pieces.

"Who’s such a lunatic! Just kill, why do this!" Ian Jorden turned away, refusing to look.

The more she looked, the more alarmed Isabella Warm became!

"I once heard the Sacred Lord mention it—there are people whose swordsmanship is extremely fast! A single strike can shred someone into pieces!" Isabella Warm suddenly recalled what Julius Reed had said when she was at Demarco Mount.

The Sacred Lord traverses the lengthy time stream, knowledgeable about ancient and modern times, akin to a mobile library.

"You mean..." As a Martial Artist, Ian Jorden naturally understood the implication of Isabella Warm’s words. "One strike?"

"Move aside!" Isabella Warm suddenly raised her head, directly shoving Ian Jorden!

Both quickly leaned against the wall!

Swipe!

A flash of swordlight!

Ian Jorden’s clothes were shredded quite a bit.

There were over a dozen wounds on his shoulder!

Blood, flowing frantically!

"Be careful!" Isabella Warm drew her sword!

Golden Serpent Sword!

"To evade this old man’s strike is not easy." An elderly voice emanated from the straw hut: "But, this old man has been tormented for thousands of years. If I were at my peak, when both of you stood beside that well, you’d already have turned to minced meat."

The voice was filled with weariness and powerlessness.

"The decline of a hero! The decline of a hero! Alas, I am old! If I could die, why would I cling to life!?"

Quiet.

After the old man finished speaking, the small courtyard fell into silence.

Isabella Warm stood in place, her clothes already drenched with cold sweat.

"You... who are you? Why are you here?" she asked with a voice nearly hoarse.

"Me? You ask who I am?" The old man chuckled lightly: "Interesting. You came to find me, yet don’t know who I am? Then why are you here?"

"To save all living beings!" Isabella Warm spoke with a quiet yet resolute voice.

"Boastful words!" The old man’s voice carried disdain.

"I want to save Julius Reed; only he can save all living beings!" Isabella Warm, unafraid, instead took a few steps forward.

"I am the ImperialTutor."

After a moment of silence, the old man spoke again.
