Chapter 12 Secretary Anthony Renner
Chapter 12 Secretary Anthony Renner
Jessie felt that he now had it all. With all the praise and compliments, he was puffed up to the extreme.
He felt that he was more than the head of the HR Department; he was like the second-in-command of
the company now. Everyone had to suck up to him.
They had barely sat down for a while. There was no way that he would agree to move to another place.
"What do you mean? We came in first, why do we have to move?" Jessie asked in anger.
"Yeah, why us?" Jessie's friends stood up, asking as they pounded the table.
The waitress begged pitifully, "It's all my fault, sir. I'm new here and I'm still unfamiliar with the booking
procedures. The room has been booked earlier and I didn't know that. Please do me a favor!"
"Don't give us that look. We won't pity you. Now get out and leave us!" Jessie waved his hand
impatiently.
"Sir, the man who booked this room is a bigwig. I couldn't afford to offend him. Please help us!" The
waitress was crying.
Jessie sneered and asked, "So you're saying we weigh less than him?"
"No, I didn't mean that. They are from the Ronald Group. We dare not offend them!" The waitress burst
into tears.
Hearing "the Ronald Group", Jessie's eyes lit up and. He smiled and asked, "You said the Ronald
Group, right? Which department are they from?"
The waitress didn't understand why he asked that, and just answered, "He's the head of the Business
Department. They are treating guests today. That's why they need a big hall, like this one."
"Otherwise, we would never come by and intrude!"
"The Business Department ? OK, but our HR Department is none of their business. They may even
need our help from time to time."
Jessie felt there was no need to care about those people.
"Go tell them that the head of the HR Department of the Ronald Group is having dinner with important
friends here. Go find another place."
The waitress looked surprised, "You're from the Ronald Group, too?"
"Yes." Jessie nodded proudly.
"Okay, I'll talk to the manager right away." She decided to let both parties settle the matter themselves
now that they were from the same company.
Jessie raised his glass and said to everyone, "Come on, don't let it spoil our fun! Cheers!"
Everyone picked up their glasses and started to fawn on him again. Jessie got carried away.
Atlas squinted and observed what was going on. Judging by what happened in his last life, Jessie
would soon mess up with the wrong guy and lose his job.
After joy came sorrow. That was so true.
Soon, two men in white shirts in their thirties walked in.
"Let me see who's the head of HR here? Who isn't willing to compromise?" A man sneered, carrying a
briefcase under his arm.
Jessie recognized the man at first glance. He was the head of Business Department, Tom Miller.
"Mr. Miller! Sit down and have a drink!" Jessie stood up and greeted him.
Tom Miller looked at Jessie with a fake smile. With contempt in his eyes, he said, "I was wondering who
turned me down so decisively. It turned out to be Mr. Cho, who has not yet taken up his postition. Mr.
Cho, it's a special occasion for us today. We have a VIP client. I think Mr. Cho will help us, right? Or
you would regret it."
Tom seemed to be looking down upon him and his word sounded somewhat threatening, which
seriously injured Jessie's self-esteem.
Tom was from the Business Department, and he had no right to command Jessie. Moreover, Jessie
and his people came to this place first. First arrived, first served.
There was absolutely no reason for Tom to force him!
If he insisted to be so aggressive, Jessie wouldn't mind confronting him. Their two departments didn't
have many ties with each other. There was nothing Tom could do about him.
After some calculation, Jessie sneered, "I'm sorry. I've got important friends eating with me here.
Please get yourself another room."
Tom's face stiffened. His smile turned grim, "Are you sure about this?"
Jessie hated this guy for calling him "who has not yet taken up his position yet". He sneered, "I may
consider it, but not for you. You're not worthy of it."
"Tom Miller is not worthy of it? What about me?"
A genteel young man walked in as he talked. A mocking smile touched his lips.
Jessie's face suddenly changed, and her legs trembled out of fear. "Mr. Renner, what brings you here?"
The young man was Ronald Kimmerly's secretary, Anthony Renner. He was Ronald's most trusted
person. He could fire or promote a man like Jessie with just one word.
He could accuse Jessie of intervening with the reception of VIP guests, which might get Jessie fired
right away.
Anthony skimmed over Jessie and said coldly, "I know most of the executive-level leaders of the
company. But I have never met you?"
That was harsh.
Jessie had to bow and force a smile. "I'm the incoming head of the HR Department, Jessie Cho. You're
a busy man. I'm too humble to catch your attention."
"So now you know you're humble? You seemed very proud just now." Tom was fanning the flames.
Jessie was cursing Tom in his mind. If he had told him that Anthony Renner was here, Jessie would've
given the room away already.
Anthony looked at Jessie and teased, "We need to treat a VIP guest here, would you mind?"
Jessie wouldn't dare to refuse him. He might lose his job should he offend Anthony.
Jessie couldn't imagine what his life would be like if he lost his job in the Ronald Group.
"We'll give it to you right away!" Jessie was acting like a desperate dog, wagging tail and begging for
mercy. His impudent pride has been long gone.
Jessie turned to his friends and family. He switched back to his proud look and said, "You heard what
Mr. Renner said. Now that my company needs this place to treat a VIP guest, I should take that as the
priority and give them this place."
"So, let's go to another room!"
"Of course! The company comes first!" Jessie's friend looked at Anthony with a ingratiating face.
"Jessie always put the company first. They should feel lucky to have an employee like you!" One of
Jessie's friends was still sucking up to him. NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
As reluctant as other people were, they didn't want to make Jessie unhappy. Moreover, they wouldn't
dare to offend Anthony Renner, because they still hoped to join the Ronald Group.
However, Francis couldn't stand it anymore.
"My brother is your employee. He's treating his friends and family after work. Does that violate the
company regulation? On what ground are you asking us to leave?" Francis asked.
