Chapter 39
Chapter 39
THIRD PERSONAL'S POV
"Get this done quickly. Dhanush is waiting." Ravi instructed the women, working over the makeup of Jennifer. And as those words left his mouth, the ladies there began scrambling here and there to not keep the devil waiting. Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Although Jennifer's eyes were closed, she felt him walk inside the suite as his shoes moved on the Maplewood flooring of the room. Ravi went up to the food trolley and inspected its contents. Seeing only a bowl of kheer empty, he exhaled heavily. Based on the previous encounters between his boss and Jennifer, he had expected her to throw the food down the gutter. But he was relieved to find that she had eaten something and wasn't starving all this long. Moreover, he very well knew that Dhanush would not have liked it if he were informed that she was hungry and stubborn as hell all this while.
"Make sure that her face it covered by a veil. Noone should get a clear picture of her face." He informed. He very well knew that as per Jennifer's conditions, she didn't want to be revealed in front of the guests. Also, his boss wanted to keep her safe while being amongst his opponents which were also present in the ceremony, most importantly from the Italian Mafia leader, Angelo De Luca. Already the ties of the Indian Mafia with the Italians was becoming a volatile subject and making the devil's wife a matter of interest for such bastards was the last thing he wished to see.
Then, he glanced that girl who had got his boss enchanted by her defiance. She was beautiful, there was no denial, but he couldn't understand why Dhanush was hell bent on pursuing her relentlessly.
It was not like he hadn't been with much more drop-dead gorgeous women before. Then what was it with this girl that he went to the extent of forcing her to tie the knot with him. But that is why this, among the four of the devils was called :- The Insane.
As being Insane, Mad made you unpredictable, which didn't let others to gauge your actions and think of a counter-attack. That was much more dangerous than uncontrolled wrath. Being crazy as they
called it, gave you leverage upon your enemies as that always kept them on their toes utterly confused about your next move.
Then shaking his head a little, he walked away closing the door with a click sound. The moment he left, Jennifer's eyes flew open and she sat on the bed, no longer tired or exhausted but anxious.
She clutched the sides of the linen sheets and they wrinkled because of her fisting them in her hands. She was badly shaking, unable to control her thoughts or bodily reactions to the instructions thrown to the helper-women there.
"Mam, do you need something?" The same lady asked who had earlier consoled Jennifer after listening about her dad's revelation. But there came no response. She helplessly saw Jennifer curling herself like a shrimp and taking deep breaths in the hope of calming herself down but that was all going waste. The other ladies present there were eying her with worry unaware what to do next to pacify her.
"Can...can you please.. provide me with a... gl..glass of.. water?" She somehow spoke in a trembling tone.
One of the ladies ran to the jug placed on the nightstand nearby. She poured a glass of water and handed it to Jennifer. She drank the water greedily with shaky hands, as if it was the last glass of water remaining on Earth. She again motioned for some of it by raising the glass to her again. The lady again filled half of the glass and this time she drank it clutching the glass tightly with both her hands. Once emptied, she placed the glass on the nightstand.
She closed her eyes and the pictures of her only close people in the oldage home flashed in front of her eyes. A small smile appeared on her face. Her breathing slowly began to settle back to normal. Whether she liked it or not, she was not going to give up on those people who loved her dearly. Even if it meant marriage to someone whose name was synonymous to evil and death, she shall still choose to gamble her life for them.
Keeping her calm and sanity was of the utmost importance and she could not give them up. Those thoughts changed her demeanor. She had to be strong as that was the need of the hour, seeing her weak could trigger the devil to take advantage of her condition, and she certainly didn't want it.
She took a slow deep breath and opened her eyes, ready to face the devil in his eyes.
"Thank you." She said to the lady who had offered her water.
She wanted to laugh at her situation. She had a phone but couldn't use it to call the police. She had an opened door but couldn't run away ftom there. She had some members of her so-called family but couldn't ask them to find her and take her away with them. As each of it would eventually lead to the devil destroying her life by vanishing the people she cared for and ending her career hence loosing her purpose of life. All she wished for now was to feel numbness all over her body again rather than this agony and despair which was threatening to rip her soul apart.
"It's time." A girl in her teens said.
"Madam, we should proceed now. The ceremony needs to be started now." Another woman spoke.
Jenny, simply nodded and got up, this time not bothering to correct her from using "madam".
The teen and another women moved to her to guide her down to the wedding mandap.(place inside a canopy where the sacred fire is kindled in the centre for witnessing the union of two people)
The girl adjusted the dupatta on Jennifer's head such that it it covered more than half of her face. Then guiding her bu her shoulder, both the ladies moved to the door. The girl opened it and the three of them moved out of the suite.
On coming out of the room, Jennifer's breath hitched. It was a beautiful hotel with a well-illuminated extravagant corridor. She guessed it to be the top most floor of the hotel which was probably the 9th
floor. The hallway was carpeted and had beautiful vases at the sides with fresh Gerbera flowers in them. All of the decór of the hotel was like some Rajasthani palace sparkling because of the small mirrors attached on the ceiling. The ambience was beautiful, with modern amenities and a vibrant touch like majestic Rajasthani palaces.
The girl had been supporting Jennifer by shoulder, now and then giving her assuring smiles while the older lady was leading the way. Then, They got into an elevator. They stepped in and the door dinged closed. Jennifer's jaw fell to the ground when she noticed the buttons indicating the top most level to be 24.
And here I thought it to have only one-third of it! she thought.
