Chapter 1032
The air was so still, you could hear a pin drop.
"Evadne."
Alexia heard the name as clear as day, and it sent alarm bells ringing in her mind.
Hadn't Sir said that drug would scramble a person's emotions, make them totally forget their old burning passion for Evadne, leave not a scrap of longing for their former lover?
So why on earth was he still saying her name?!
Thaddeus stared at his own reflection, standing there all alone in the mirror, and for a second he looked lost.
He'd always thought he didn't need anyone. He was his own man, end of story.
But for some inexplicable reason, the moment "Evadne" slipped out of his mouth, he felt this hollowness inside, this empty corner echoing with something he just couldn't ignore.
He didn't realize it yet-how you only hear echoes when something refuses to be forgotten.
Just then, as Thaddeus stood lost in thought, a pair of pale, elegant hands brushed over his broad shoulders and slid gently around his neck.
A soft, sweet scent drifted up to his nose.
He glanced down, and there was Alexia, her eyes warm and tender-so dark, you could almost drown in them.
"Looks like Mr. Thaddeus isn't quite a pro at tying a tie," she said, her fingers playing with his charcoal-gray tie, her voice smooth as honey. "Let me help. Mr. Frederic and the others will be here any minute. If they see you like this, well... it wouldn't look too good, would it?”
She was in heels, but Thaddeus was so tall she had to stand on tiptoe, leaning in close so their faces were just inches apart-their breath mingling, noses nearly touching.
Thaddeus frowned slightly, lips parting as if to say something, when suddenly, heavy footsteps thundered down the hall.
His eyes snapped up. Chasel stood in the doorway, ice-cold and expressionless, taking it all in.
From where he stood, Thaddeus and Alexia looked dangerously close-almost like they were about to kiss.
Chasel's narrow eyes flew wide, his whole body tensing with a sudden rush of blood to the head.
"Oh, Dr. Bright!" Alexia turned to him with a sunny, innocent smile, as if nothing was amiss. "Don't get the wrong idea. Mr. Thaddeus just needed a little help with his tie, that's all was doing." noveldrama
Chasel's lips curled into a cold sneer. He stalked across the room straight to Thaddeus.
SMACK!
The next second, he slapped Thaddeus hard across the face.
Thaddeus's head snapped to the side, pale skin now marked with a brilliant five- fingered welt.
Alexia quickly stepped between them. "Dr. Bright! What the hell? You can't just go hitting people for no reason!"
"Step aside," Chasel growled, eyes narrowed, his tongue pressing against his teeth. “And don't test me, sweetheart. Say one more word and you'll get the same."
"You-!" Alexia's face flushed white with fury as Chasel all but shoved her out of
the way.
"Thaddeus, it's only been a few days
since you woke up, and you're
already trading in the old for the new?" Chasel's eyes were red with rage. What, you get a bump on the head and now you're just a cheating bastard? You've got emotional
issues, sure, but don't telome you've lost your damn memory! Don't you remember your girlfriend is Ms. Ashbourne-Evadne?"
"Even if you don't love her anymore, have you lost every ounce of decency? How can you mess around with another woman out in the open when you have a girlfriend? What the hell is wrong with you?
Alexia took a deep breath, keeping her composure. "Dr. Bright, you're
overreacting. I was just helping Mr. Thaddeus with his tie. You're being way too sensitive about nothing."
"He's got two hands and feet, and if not, Mr. Gordon could help him. Why are you sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong?"
What do you think?
