Chapter 14 Finding Her
She had been sitting at the bus stop for almost an hour when she decided to check her money. She needed to plan her next meal, but she didn’t expect to find bills of twenties and hundreds in her wallet.
Ian.
She clasped her mouth with her hand trying to calm herself from the shock, while her other hand took the note from her wallet, then zipped her bag back up as she started reading it.
I don’t expect you to find this. Ever.
If so, then you must’ve managed to run away from me.
Blair… please be safe out there.
I still hope that you’d comeback
and let me help you.
Just don’t go back to him.
– Ian.
She shed a tear when she knows that he must’ve slipped those bills while she was sleeping. There must’ve been more than a thousand dollars there. She could sleep under a roof that night, she wouldn’t have to skip her next dinner and breakfast.
After calming herself down and drying her cheeks, she opens her wallet again and retrieves a couple of twenty-dollar bills for her meal and a taxi ride to the city center.
She was thinking to search for a fanny pack, making sure that the money would always be with her at all times. That afternoon she had looked for a job, but found none. It was almost dark when she gets herself to a decent motel. She was careful not to go too cheap on the motel and endanger herself.
The place looked and proven to be shady, as they didn’t ask for any kind of ID from her. But at least there were no signs of druggies who might put her life in danger. The walls were thin enough that she could hear all the sexual activities from both sides of the room. Luckily she was on the top floor, freeing her from the above would be noise should she be given the lower level room.
She was tired, her feet hurt, her back need to rest. It should be easy for her to fall asleep from exhaustion. But after her shower, and re-dressing her wounds she was still tossing and turning on the bed.
Half an hour later she decided to change into her thank top and just sleep in her undies. The AC was broken and it was late and she was too afraid to come out of her room, or even call the front desk for maintenance.
She was back to tossing and turning, couldn’t make herself fall asleep. Then she cursed on the inside when all she could think of was Ian. Her tears finally fall, as she hugged her knees and sobbed. She was missing him, she hated that he could make her feel that strongly by just within that short couple of days.
Her mind knows that this was the best arrangement, they couldn’t be together without jeopardizing herself and obviously his career. She would go to jail, her mind wanders if she could make it in there. Maybe she should just give herself up, she was feeling tired already.
The guilt of having to lie, and being on the run was a big issue for her. She didn’t like the constant worry of having to look to your back for police officers, then getting tense every time a police car went by in front of her.
But somehow she falls asleep, though only to be wakened up screaming herself from her nightmare where Benjamin abused her, hitting her so bad that it felt so real. She was still in deep shock when her door was harshly knocked. She trembled, covering her body with the blanket, she was back to crying and sobbed harder when the door was knocked again.
She was afraid of her life, afraid of who was behind the door. It could be the cops, they might actually catch up to her, or it could be some random assailant.
Her hands were muffling her hysterical sounds that we threatening to burst with the loud thump of her heart. She was having a panic attack, when she finally retreated to the corner of the room, balling herself, hugging her knees close, then screaming when her door was finally burst open.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Her body shook, as panic set in. She didn’t even dare to see who it was, she knows that it was her end. Until she heard his voice.
“Shit! Blair… baby, please it’s me, Ian. I’m sorry… I’m sorry… I couldn’t reach your phone.”
He was holding her close, he was engulfing her in his arms, rocking her body gently, slowly until she stops sobbing and move in closer to his body.
A couple of hours ago, he was furious when he got home and his mother was there, and Blair was gone. Then she was telling him that she had thrown away the slut that he was keeping in his house. She was upset with him, she never expected him to have a woman in the house, lazily staying in his room just waiting for him to come home.
At that same time, he was looking for her stuff and relieved that she had taken her bag, meaning she had the money which he hid yesterday night. He was really upset with his mother, but he patiently explained everything to her, knowing that it’ll cost him more time, and get her further away from his grasps.
But he owed his mother the truth, though she was still not convinced by his explanation, he didn’t care. And so he leaves her with Rose, as he was going back out again trying to look for her. Her phone was the first thing he tracked, and luckily it was still on.
He was just about to knock on the door when he heard her screams, he was hoping that it was her nightmare, that no one was in there with her. He had asked for her description and the receptionist was telling him to go right up when he showed him his police badge. He even gave him the extra key to her room, saying that he didn’t want any damage to the door.
And then he was shocked to find her in a state of panic, the nightmare must’ve been that bad. She was gripping herself tightly, she was wrapped in the cheap motel blanket and looked like she had seen a ghost.
“I’m scared, Ian… I killed him, he’s haunting me. He still beats me, it hurts…”
He was tense the second she revealed her deepest darkest secret to him. But she couldn’t handle it anymore. It was too much for her. If she has to be on death row because of her abusive husband then be it. She was tired of running away.
The realization hits her, just seconds before. She rather gave up everything and let it all be over and done with. She was tired, so tired that she just gave up. The beatings never stop, not even after his death. The nightmare was so vivid that she was feeling the bruises that weren’t even there.
“Sssh… it’s okay baby, let me help you… I got you…”
He did have her in his arms, but he was still feeling her slipping away. He could feel her desperation as if she was giving up. As if the burden was too much for her. He kept on cursing on the inside, his brain was busy racking out a plan for her, but none was coming to form. He was clueless, he just wanted her safe in his arms.
If he could kill the bastard just so she won’t be having these episodes he would do it in a heartbeat. He kept on holding her in his arms, kissing her hair, caressing her back, trying to comfort her while he was still in shock from her words.
A murderer, she’s a fucking murderer! you have really done it this time Ian!
His inner self was mocking him. The golden boy, the captain’s favorite go-to guy was hoarding a killer.
