Chapter 352
"Are you doing this on purpose?" Allison's cheeks were flushed, this time from embarrassment rather than anger.
"That was an accident! Just an accident! Surely Watson doesn't think we were sneaking kisses in the office, right?" She wasn't worried about Watson being upset; she just didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea about her and Joshua. No matter who it was.
Joshua tilted his head, looking at her, "What?"
"You totally did it on purpose!" Allison gritted her teeth. "You leaned in so I'd kiss you, knowing you'd end up with lipstick on you, and then you let Watson see it, didn't you?"
Joshua shrugged, a playful smile tugging at his lips. "I did want a kiss, but I honestly didn't know I'd gotten lipstick on me."
"Quit pretending." Allison huffed. "If you didn't know, why were you grinning at Watson just now?"
Joshua feigned innocence. "Was I? I wasn't trying to smile. I just couldn't help it; I got happy after a kiss."
"Joshua!" Allison couldn't hold back any longer. She grabbed a tissue box from the desk and chucked it at him.
Joshua caught it swiftly, "Hey, I'm right here!"noveldrama
He chuckled, his dark eyes twinkling with mischief.
"Who's your 'baby'? Don't call me that. I can't stand people who are so frivolous!" Allison glared at Joshua, pointing to the office door. "Now, immediately, out you go!"
"Alright." Joshua, seeing the tissues were all crumpled in his hand, obediently headed for the door. "Let me know if you need anything else."
"Go!" Allison fumed.
As he left the office, Joshua bumped into Joy.
"Hello, Mr. Fisher," Joy greeted Joshua with a smile but then paused when she noticed the lipstick on his lips.
"Hello," Joshua replied, clearly in a good mood.
"Mr. Fisher, you..." Joy hesitated, the words hanging in the air.
Joshua knew exactly what she had seen but pretended to be oblivious, giving a slight nod before walking away.
Joy's eyes sparkled with a
gossip-fueled excitement. Her mind raced with thoughts. Yes! Mr. Fisher and Allison kissed! The couple I'm shipping might actually happen!
While Joshua waited for the elevator, Watson happened to be heading out.
Carrying his briefcase, Watson approached Joshua, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Mr. Fisher, you're quite the eager beaver, running errands here."
"What's wrong with being the errand boy?" Joshua's smile remained intact. "If she's asking me to help
out, it means we're close. She feels
she can ask me anything. She doesn't ask you because you're not that close. She'd feel awkward asking you to do odd jobs, don't you think?"
Watson: "..."
He'd never met someone so adept at turning the tables.
Watson curled his lips in what looked like a smile, though it didn't reach his eyes.
"Mr. Fisher, you certainly have a way with words."
The elevator arrived. The doors opened, and the two men stepped inside together.
"Mr. Fisher, have you heard the saying?" Watson's reflection in the elevator's mirrored walls highlighted his striking features. "The early bird catches the worm."
Joshua chuckled nonchalantly, "And have you heard the one about not fishing off the company pier?"
Watson was momentarily at a loss for words.
But he quickly retorted, "All grass is
in
the same. Compared to second chances, the grass at home is- tougher to swallow. It lacks flavor. The grass nearby is fresh and
untasted."
In the confined space, a tense atmosphere simmered between the two men, neither willing to back down.
What do you think?
