Chapter 1751
In high spirits, Jasmine sipped her fruit tea, her eyes casually settling on Fiona, who was lounging comfortably on the sofa, waving a hand as she directed the waiter.
"What are you just standing there for? Go lend a hand, would you?"
The waiter hesitated, clearly recognizing Jasmine's status. While she didn't know who Fiona was, anyone hanging out with Jasmine had to be someone important. Jasmine had zero patience for such sluggishness. Her demeanor turned frosty as she slammed her teacup down on the coffee table, glaring at the group. "What's going on here? Are you disrespecting me, or is it just standard practice for your store to push its customers around?"
The waiter quickly approached, leaning in to whisper to Jasmine, "Ms. Bryant, it's not that we're unwilling to let the lady try on the dress. It's just that Ms. Jane already reserved it, and our hands are tied."
Hearing this, Jasmine's expression grew even colder, her displeasure evident. "Why didn't you mention this earlier?"
She shot a sharp look at the waiter. If she'd known Jane had reserved the dress, she wouldn't have let Fiona try it on; the very thought was aggravating.
Standing up, Jasmine walked over to Fiona, gently taking the dress from her hands. "Fiona, let's pick out something else. This dress is spoken for by Jane. It's not cool to take someone else's reservation."
Fiona was unfazed, not particularly bothered by any of it. She nodded, allowing Jasmine to reclaim the dress. While she admired its look, it wasn't worth causing a fuss over someone else's reservation, especially when it wasn't a must-have for her.
"Alright, Fiona, let me help you find another style, something even better!" Jasmine casually tossed the dress to a nearby waiter.
As they turned to explore more options, they nearly bumped into Jane, who was just striding into the store.noveldrama
Jane had caught wind of their voices from the entrance, and the tension among the trio was already tangible, now even more so.
"Better than the dress I reserved? Then why were you immediately drawn to it when you walked in? Hilarious," Jane scoffed, strutting past them with a hint of mockery.
Jasmine glanced at her but chose not to engage, though the disdain in her eyes was unmistakable.
Her demeanor stayed cool, her smiles reserved solely for Fiona.
"What's up with this high-end store letting just anyone walk in these days? And then they have the nerve to mess with my custom order. Seriously, what kind of staff are you hiring?"
Jane flung the dress she was holding at the waiter, casting a deliberate look at Fiona and Jasmine before turning away. "I hate it when people mess with my stuff. Since it's already been touched, I don't want it anymore. You handle it!"
The dress wasn't cheap-$25,000. There was no way a waiter could cover that.
An annual salary barely hit $10,000 in the States; how could she ever foot the
bill?
The waiter was instantly flustered, her face paling as she clutched the dress, reaching out to grab Jane's sleeve. "Ms. Jane, I'm really sorry truly sorry. I didn't mean for this to happen. It wasn't me who took the dress down; it was Ms. Bryant and her friend who wanted to try it on. I only noticed it afterward. $25,000 is way too much; I just can't afford it.”
