Falling For The Alpha King

Chapter 7

Chapter 7

"May I know what was written in the letter, Scott?" asked Mr. James.

Scott closed the letter and replied, “My father died of poison. Someone put poison in his food and that's

why he died."

"Do you have a suspect?" James asked.

"Not. I never thought of suspecting anyone, but Fred's father couldn't have done something despicable

like this. As far as I know, despite competing with my father, he places great emphasis on honesty and

sportsmanship. So, somehow I feel a little confused, this letter confused me. Who had the heart to put

poison in my father's food? He's never hurt anyone," Scott replied, looking back at the letter in his

hand.

“But the poison was found in Fred's father's study room. How do you explain that?” asked Mr. James.

"I don't know, I'll look into this later. Then, am I still obliged to come to Peter's funeral?"

“After considering it, I decided it wasn't necessary anymore. I will send my assistant to come to the

funeral. Now you can go."

Then, Scott got up and said goodbye to Mr. James, then stepped out of the office of the High Court.

This time he walked out of the High Court headquarters alone. He walked down a long hallway that

was directly connected to the headquarters exit.

Outside, one of Mr. James' private driver was waiting for him and as soon as he saw Scott, he

immediately opened the car door and let him in.

“Mr. Scott, please come in. Mr. James asked me to take you home," he said as he stood beside the car

door.

“Okay, thanks Axel,” Scott replied as he got into the car.

Not long after that, Axel was sitting in the driver's seat and was starting the car engine while fastening

the safety belt. Scott, sitting in the back passenger seat, stared out the side window wondering where

to start the investigation. It felt like all roads seemed deadlocked and there were no clues at all.

When he was daydreaming, apparently Axel realized that Scott looked confused. He ventured to ask.

“Sir, is there a problem? I'm sorry I interfered too much," he asked.

Scott, who was originally looking out of the window, then turned his head and looked at Axel, then

replied, “Yeah, too many things have happened lately and it all confused me. What should I do?"

"Doing for what, sir?" asked Axel again.

"To investigate the mastermind behind my father's death."

"But, isn't the mastermind Mr. Fred's father?" asked Axel once more.

"That's what confused me. From all sides, it seemed impossible for him to do all that. Since childhood, I

have known him well. So when the evidence pointed to him and he went to trial. I really couldn't believe

any of that. I wish there was something else that could lead to something that would make him

innocent. However, Fred's father had committed suicide in prison and Fred blamed me for his father's

death. Our friendship since childhood is finally broken.”

"I'm sorry about that, sir. But, hopefully, there will be a solution to the problem you are facing.”

"Thank you, Axel."

"You're welcome, Sir."

After the conversation, Scott leaned back in his chair and tried to recall the day his father was found

dead. At the time, he was in town with Tom and Katie. Moments later, his father's assistant informed

him that his father had died while eating his lunch. However, the assistant did not know if his father died

from poison until the autopsy evidence from the police came out.

From there, Scott got a glimmer of hope, maybe what he should do is ask again about the actual

sequence of events to his father's assistant named Alex.

Happiness was visible on his face. The handsome man hoped that his efforts this time would not end in

vain and could bring good results for himself and Fred's father's name if he was not the culprit.

Not long after, the car arrived in front of Scott's house which is nice, although not very big, but looks

very cool and peaceful.

"Sir, we have arrived," Axel said as he looked back.

"Thank you, Axel. I'm going down now. Drive carefully,” Scott replied as he got out of the car.

Then, after closing the car door, Axel slowly drove the car back away from Scott's residence.

Not long after, from inside came out Katie and Tom. Tom is a Beta in Scott's Pack, while Katie is an

Omega. For Scott, Tom was his best friend and personal assistant whom he greatly admired.

“Scott,” Katie exclaimed as she ran to the handsome man and hugged him. Scott returned the hug as

he looked at Tom.

Then Katie let go of her arms and touched the handsome man's cheeks and said, “Sheriff Webb told us

everything and asked us to wait for you here. So, sorry we didn't come looking for you or met you at the

hospital."

"It does not matter. Oh yeah, are you guys all right?” asked Scott.

Then, Tom came up to him and hugged him while replying, "We're fine, just—"

"Just what?" Scott asked as he let go of his arm and looked into Tom's eyes.

“Many of our friends were killed and also injured. Katie and I have arranged treatment for the injured.

However, Fred and his friends did not seem to accept this. I'm worried for the future, I don't know what

he will do again, "said Tom.

"You mean revenge?" Scott asked to confirm.

"Yes. We know what Fred's character is like. What's more, I heard Peter died."

"That's right, Mr. James asked me to come to his funeral."

"Then?" Katie asked curiously. Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.

“I refused, but he insisted. Until finally, I received an autopsy letter from the police and Mr. James

withdrew his order."

"That easy for him to withdraw his orders?" Katie asked.

"Yes."

"Sounds weird to me," said Tom.

"Guys, can we go inside first, I'm making Scott's favorite fruit pie," Katie said.

When the three of them were about to step into the house, from a distance they saw a car coming

towards them and stopped right in front of Scott's house. It turned out to be Sheriff Webb's private car.

The middle-aged man got out of the car and walked over to Scott, then stopped right in front of him.

"Good afternoon everyone," said Sheriff Webb.

"Good afternoon Sheriff. Is there anything we can help with?" asked Scott.

“I want to show you a badge. I think this badge looks familiar to me and maybe to you. Alright, do you

guys recognize this badge?” Sheriff Webb took out and showed him a circular badge with two crossed

swords on it.
