Ex Cried as I Wed a Tycoon

Chapter 355

"What do you mean by 'I'm more experienced'?" Vinson Elliott's eyes darkened, and he let out a cold scoff.

Nita's heart skipped a beat. She forced a laugh and tried to play it cool. "Um... nothing. Forget it."

She could never win an argument with him, so her instinct was to escape. But Vinson was quicker; he caught her by the back of her collar before she could take a step.

Nita froze, awkwardly twisting around to face him. "Mr... Mr. Elliott."

Vinson said, "To make up for the emotional damage you've caused me, you're buying me dinner."

Nita thought to herself, He really has a knack for squeezing every penny out of me. For something this minor, he's already eyeing my tiny paycheck. Does he have any idea how hard it is for me to make a living?

Every app on her phone was constantly bombarding her with special offers, and with all the holidays nowadays, it felt like every day was some sort of shopping festival. Her wallet had already been depleted by endless sales, and now she had to treat her boss to dinner. She was still breathing, but inside, she felt utterly dead.

Vinson looked at her frowning face and thought, If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was dragging her to her own execution.

"I want pasta," Vinson said at last.

Nita was still lost in her own misery. When she heard him say he wanted pasta, it felt like she was dreaming.

"No interest in treating me? Fine, then let's go for sushi," Vinson said, raising an eyebrow.

"No! Sushi's all cold and raw. That's terrible for your stomach. Someone like you, who's always out drinking and at business dinners, should eat something warm.”

Vinson smiled approvingly. "That's what I like to hear from my star employee. Always looking out for me."

Nita's mouth twitched. What choice did she have? If she didn't pamper him a little, her money would be gone for nothing.

"I know a place that does amazing pasta. Let's go there," Nita said, perking up.

Vinson's lips curled as he watched her sudden enthusiasm, as if she was terrified he'd change his mind at any second. She really was something else.

In the end, dinner for two turned into dinner for four.

Effie turned to Lyman. "Last time we missed out. Now you finally get to try it. How is it?"

Lyman replied, "It's good, but a little spicy."

Effie handed him a carton of milk. "Drink some milk. It helps with the heat."

Vinson eyed her skeptically. "Effie, you sure milk works for that?"

"Of course," Effie replied. "Every I ate something too spicy as a my mom would give menoveldrama

"Then I'll take a bottle," Vinson said.

"Sorry," Effie said sheepishly. "I only brought one."

Lyman sipped contentedly, clearly pleased with himself.

He shot Vinson a smug look. "Mm... this is really good milk. Honestly, the best I've ever had."

Vinson leaned in and whispered, "Lyman, aren't you lactose intolerant? Careful, or you'll regret it later."

Vinson stared. “Wow, that's ridiculously thoughtful!"

He looked at Lyman, envy written all over his face. "Tell me how do I find a wife

Lyman shook his head. "Impossible."

"Why not?"

"Because there's only one Effie."

Vinson's mouth twitched. "You know what? I'm starting to think you're just showing
