Only the butler was around, and the place was clearly nestled within a sprawling cemetery. Who in their right mind would build a mansion in the middle of a graveyard? Connor was getting jittery. He knew Chloe wouldn't send those messages without a solid reason, especially not with a note to bring Kash along. It screamed for help.

The butler had led them to the sitting room and was about to pour some tea, but Connor was done waiting. He grabbed the butler's arm, his voice tense, "Where's my wife?"

The butler stayed cool, polite as ever. "You mean Mrs. Chloe, right? The young master is giving her some acupuncture right now."

Chloe cut in with a frown, "The young master is Grant."

"Yes, Mr. Connor. Mrs. Chloe came to see him herself today. She mentioned she's been having memory lapses, forgetting things, and struggling with insomnia. So, he's treating her with acupuncture."

To Connor, it all sounded legit, but something felt off. "This was always done at the Crescent Clinic. Why here today?"

Connor wasn't questioning Grant's choice of venue per se. It was the creepy vibe of the place and Chloe's urgent messages that had him on edge. If it were just a regular session, Chloe wouldn't have messaged so urgently, asking him to bring Kash. She must have sniffed out danger.

The trust he'd painstakingly built with Grant fizzled instantly. The butler chimed in, "The young master's meeting an old friend here, so Mrs. Chloe came along."

In a flash, Kash had a gun pressed against the butler's temple. His voice was ice- cold, “Lead us there, or your loyalty won't matter if your master's left in the dark."

The butler's polite facade crumbled, replaced by fear. "Okay, okay, don't shoot. I'll take you there."
