CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1234

"But I just can't shake this feeling." Lydia murmured, anxiety gnawing at her.

"Unfortunately, you can't reach Mr. Quincy right now unless you have someone who can get in touch with him," her secretary suggested.

Lydia's eyes lit up. Why hadn't she thought of that? She could call her father!

Without wasting another moment, she dialed her father's number, heart pounding with worry for both Quincy and her dad. As the phone rang, each second felt like an eternity, and she silently prayed that nothing had happened. Finally, the call connected.

"Hello... signal's bad here..." came Mr. Fay's voice, crackling with interference.

The signal was awful, and Lydia's heart leapt back into her throat. Raising her voice, she tried to make herself heard. "Dad, where are you? I saw a video saying there might be an earthquake in Salt City!"

"What? I can't... hear you clearly," Mr. Fay's voice came in and out, making it hard to communicate.Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

"I said there might be an earthquake where you are! Don't go outside!" Lydia repeated, louder this time.

Just as the connection cleared up and Lydia thought she could finally communicate, she heard Quincy's panicked voice on the other end, cutting through the static. "Earthquake! Mr. Fay, get out, now!"

Before she could process what she had heard, the line went dead with a harsh click.

Lydia collapsed into her chair, her entire body going cold as her limbs trembled uncontrollably. The phone slipped from her hand as waves of fear washed over her.

Her secretary called her name several times, trying to snap her out of it. "Miss Lydia, please, try to stay calm. Think positively! They could be fine."

She continued, "When the call cut off, you didn't hear any loud crashing or chaos, which means the earthquake likely wasn't too severe. They could very well be safe."

Her words brought a flicker of hope to Lydia. "She's right", Lydia thought. Things hadn't escalated to the worst yet. Until she had concrete news, she couldn't let her mind run wild with fear.

She immediately called her mother

and explained the situation. Upon hearing that there had been an

earthquake in Salt City, Mrs. Fay became just as worried. They both quickly booked flights, preparing to leave for Salt City that night.

After landing and making inquiries, Lydia and her mother finally found out that Mr. Fay and Quincy were at the hospital.

Lydia rushed inside, her voice trembling as she called out, "Quincy, are you okay? What about my dad? How is he?!"

She threw herself into Quincy's arms, her face streaked with tears. Before arriving, she had braced herself for the worst, thinking she might never see him again.

Now, overwhelmed by relief and gratitude that both of them were alive, she broke down, sobbing uncontrollably.

Quincy gently wiped her tears away, his gaze downcast, remaining silent.

Sensing his silence, Lydia stiffened, pulling back slightly. Slowly, she withdrew from his embrace, her heart sinking.

"What about my dad?" she asked hesitantly, her voice barely a whisper.

Quincy was about to speak when Mrs. Fay's voice interrupted, "Doctor, is the patient in Samuel Fay?"

Lydia's face went pale.

Through the small gap in the

hospital room door, she saw the

figure of a middle-aged man lying on the bed. The sight of his graying hair hit her like a punch to the gut, confirming her worst fear. It was her father.

"Ma'am, are you family? You can't just rush in like that!" a nurse called out, but Lydia didn't hear her.

Ignoring the nurse, Lydia hurried to Mr. Fay's bedside, her eyes fixed on his still, turned figure.

She had always seen Mr. Fay as a stubborn man, stuck in his old-fashioned ways, never willing to change, But now, as she looked at his hunched back and the sharp outline of his shoulder blades, a painful realization washed over her.

Somewhere along the way, without her noticing, her father had gotten old.
