Billionaire’s Heir

Chapter one- A surprise visit

Myra’s POV

“Signs,” I tried to stand from the couch but it seems that my waist is on fire, and my protruding tummy seems to be getting bigger.

An idea pops into my head when my eyes land on my phone which has wallpaper of my husband Damien, and me. It was taken on our wedding day. I kept staring at the picture and it seemed just like yesterday as we walked down the aisle. Everything seems so perfect…

Thirty minutes later I’m driving to Damien’s office dressed in a white-flowered short preggy dress.

I remember Damien once told me he didn’t like surprises and surprise visits to the office, but this was different, I was going to finally tell him the baby’s gender. This is something he has waited patiently for six months to hear, smiled sheepishly imagining his reaction when I disclosed the gender of the little human that we created together…

Memories of the night that resulted in my Lil bump came playing how gentle, sweet and romantic he was on that cold night. The honking of horns jolted me to reality and l decided to stop in one of his favorite restaurants to get him lunch. I knew with the kind of busy schedule Damien has, he mostly skips lunch.

I got to the office of Graham Group and alighted from the car and gave the keys to the company’s valet to do this work and gently made my way to the elevator.

I can’t wait to see his handsome face when he opens the door and finds me standing at his front door or when I tell him about the baby’s gender to my surprise the door was slightly open, and seeing Damien’s angry look got me worried.

Stepping into his office and I whispered his name in a quiet but sweet tone, he seemed not to notice my presence but was focused on the mail he was reading that made his face appear cold. He looked up noticing my presence and tried to hide his worries by flashing a stilted smile.

Looking at the time clock beside his table and it was already past noon, I quickly offered him his lunch while he was at it, I gently made my way to the couch and he asked in a strict voice.

“I told you I don’t like surprises why didn’t you call before coming, or at least inform my secretary, Mr. Jack,” I opened my mouth to notify him of my purpose of coming but he shut me up by asking me to leave and go home and wait for him.

I stood up and made my way to his table to at least give him a tap kiss but he stopped me mid-way by asking me to leave immediately. His words were hurtful and at that moment I regretted my decision.

I released a breath I didn’t know I was holding. My eyes brim with tears ready to flow, I spark around and run out of the office…

“S**t!” Damien cursed as he ran towards me.

” Myra, please! Listen to me I can explain,” he said with some traces of hurt and anger in his voice.

“There is nothing to explain Damien, go back and complete whatever work you were doing,” I snapped at him with some new energy I didn’t know I still had left in me.

I ran outside before he could utter a word and entered the elevator leaving him behind.

Immediately I got inside the car I allowed the tears to flow and sobbed like a baby. Looking at the scan picture I wanted to show him made me burst into another round of tears, it hurts so much.

How could he treat me with so much hate, I regretted my actions, blaming myself for going against his rules, heaving out a loud sign. I turned on the ignition and drove off with Frank Ocean music thinking about you, playing and I sang along…

The buzzing of my phone jolted me back to reality and I turned down the volume of the music while connecting the call to my ear pod.

The soft feminine voice from the other end made me smile “Hello Mrs. Graham I’m calling from Catherine hospital you’re late for your antenatal appointment,”

Oh gosh! I had forgotten about my appointment with the gynae. I immediately told the nurse to book me in and that I am already on the way.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

I arrived at the hospital premises before getting out of the car. I wanted to call Damien, to notify him of my whereabouts but remembering our last encounter made me resist that urge.

I got out of the car and made my way to the gyno’s office. After reviewing the test results the doctor announced that the baby is in perfect condition, and l will soon be due for delivery.

I was in high spirits after hearing the doctor’s report, I can’t wait to welcome my bundle of joy.”Smiles”

Driving out of the hospital I called my bestie Sonia, We have been friends since childhood more like sisters because we always had each other’s back.

Sonia picked up and was happy that her bestie decided to call because we have not spoken in two days, before she could say anything I told her that I am on my way to her house and I told her to make shrimp spaghetti I am craving that at the moment, Sonia chuckled and before saying “okay Mrs. Graham at your service,” and we both laughed before ending the call.

I arrived at my friend’s house and was ready to share all the juicy gist with my bestie but first things first I needed to eat because it seems I haven’t eaten in days. After eating I decided to tell Sonia everything about my unborn baby and the day’s activities while carefully omitting my earlier misunderstanding with Damien. Sonia was excited she was going to be a godmother soonest.

We started making plans on the baby essentials where to shop and stuff to buy.
