Betrothed To The Mafia Lord

Chapter 397

Chapter 397

Luca’s pov

“I did something.” I echoed once again.

The confusion was start obvious on Sofia’s face and so I decided to continue.

“I know you’re probably confused now.” I pointed out and she nodded her head.

“Yeah, I am.” She supplied and I nodded my head slowly.

I’m really doing this. I whispered to myself in my head as I made to speak.

“This thing which I did, is making me feel hella… guilty.” I paused and carefully regarded the emotions

on her face. Apart from confusion, there was nothing else on her face.

“It has been eating me up from the inside, which made me pull away from you.” I pause once again.

“Me pulling away from you, was none of your fault. That was all on me, it was all on the inner turmoil

always going on in my head.”

I paused once again and exhaled deeply.

“And, I don’t like that at all. I didn’t like any of it.” I glanced at her and our eyes locked. Apart from the

confusion swimming around in her large eyes, there was nothing else in there, and I felt myself losing a

hold of myself a little as I stared into that eyes.

“I didn’t like pulling away from you, I just couldn’t help it. I didn’t realize I was doing it, because the guilt

in my head made me start to do it before I even realized it.”

“I necee liked any of it. I don’t like how we are now. I want us to just return to how we used to be

before.” I continued and watched as she slowly exhaled.

She averted her gaze from mine for a few moments to regard the roof for a few seconds. She was back

to staring at me after a little while.

“So… what’s this thing that you did though? That started this entire thing.”

She asked and I blinked at her, feeling tongue tied and not knowing how best to respond to that.

I had planned that I was going to tell her all what I had done some moments ago. I didn’t think further

on what I’d tell her should she ask for this.

And now that she had done, I didn’t know how I was going to respond to her.

I only blinked at her once again after a few minutes of the continuous silence stretching out between

us.

Her eyes widened a little and she looked shock as spoke. “Wait, you didn’t plan to tell me the reason as

to why all these happened?” She demanded, sounding very much like she couldn’t believe her ears.

I made to speak, but nothing came forth for the first few tries.

“Bunny…” I finally began to speak but she shook her head and leaned back a little.

“No, no. There’s no way you wouldn’t tell me the reason all these happened. How am I supposed to be

sure that it wasn’t my fault if you wouldn’t tell me the reason?” She asked and I shook my head

immediately.

“It’s not you, Sofia. It’s me. You didn’t do a damn thing.” I explained to her but she shook her head.

“I can’t be so sure. Why can’t you just tell me the reason?” She asked almost immediately and I

exhaled deeply and regarded the roof for a few seconds.

There was no way I’d actually tell her what happened.

There was absolutely no way in hell.

“I can’t tell you, Sofia. I’m sorry.” I finally breathed out.

Sofia wasn’t having that by the looks of things.

She slid off the bed and folded her hands around her middle.

“Why can’t you just tell me? Do you realize how much I’d start to overthink now?” She demanded,

sounding and looking extremely hurt.

I breathed out a sigh and rolled out of the bed as well.

“Bunny…” I began to speak but she shook her head.

“No, no. Just no. You’re making it worse this way.” She pointed out, making me stop in my tracks, which

was a few inches away from her.

“I thought this talk was supposed to be a really honest one. You’re supposed to say all what there is to

say instead of creating avenues in which I could use to overthink.”

“I didn’t mean to always make you overthink.” I finally breathed out.

“It’s not about you meaning to. Overthinking dosent work that way. It cones from a space in my mind

which I cannot control. Situations like this just creates more avenues for my mind to go all out in a

spree of overthinking.” She continued and I puffed out a small breath.

“Ever since you began to pull away from me, I began to overthink, and it has taken a great toll on me. I

feel drained. Emotionally and mentally drained. I don’t like this. Please just tell me the reason why you

began to pull away from me in the beginning. The reason why you said you were feeling guilty. Please

be honest as well.”

I let out a sharp exhale and inched closer to her, cupping her shoulders in my hands once I was

standing before her.

When I didn’t say a thing and about a few minutes passed, a really hurt look crossed Sofia’s face and

she pulled away from me, making my hands drop from her shoulders.

I watched as she stormed away from me, making her way into the walk-in closet.

I followed her, watching as she shrugged out of her large white shirt. From NôvelDrama.Org.

She changed into a black skirt, a sleeveless top and then she slipped a large coat over her frame.

She turned around after slipping into a pair of shoes, stopping before me since I was standing in the

doorway.

“Where are you going?” I asked.

“Out.” She responded.

“We were having a conversation.” I pointed out and she huffed.

“Were we? You were determined to not carry on the conversation, even after I desperately begged for

you to do just that.” She explained.

“Sofia, look…”

“Luca please, this is really draining. This conversation isn’t going anywhere, it’s just going around in

circles.” She spoke, sounding drained.

After a few back and forth, I parted the way for her to go through.

I tailed after her, watching as she briskly motioned to her guards about wanting to go out.

One of her guards, Ethan, came over to me to confirm if she could look, like they’d normally put a text

through to me about this if I wasn’t here right now.

I nodded my permission, watching as she slid into the car some minutes later, and soon, the car drove

out of the compound.
