Chapter 242
Chapter 242
“Tve only got a ten percent chance of making this work” Gwendolyn continued, “Are you willing to take the risk with my treatment plan?”
Her words hit them like a bolt from the blue, leaving their ears ringing.
“What? Ten percent?” Eve, tears streaming down her face, clutched her heart in disbelief, “Even if it was a tenth of a percent or one in ten million, Id take those odds.”
“Honey, did you hear that?” Magnolia was beside herself.
Derrick nodded, dazed, but a nagging suspicion told him that Gwendolyn might be selling false hope.
“Let’s do it. Go with your plan,” Carlisle gritted his teeth, his stoic eyes betraying a hint of moisture
Gwendolyn spoke calmly. “I have two conditions. First, the hospital room must be kept quiet, with only one person staying overnight. Second, you’ll need to sign a waiver.”
She had learned from experience to cover her own back.
Sandra handed over the waiver with a sympathetic smile, and Carlisle didn’t hesitate to sign his name.
“Once he’s in my care, I use everything I’ve learned to save him. If there’s nothing else, I’ll head to my office
Gwendolyn’s gaze was cool as she left the room
Sandra followed closely behind, and once out of earshot, she gave a thumbs–up, “Cool!”
She sidled up to Gwendolyn and asked in a hushed tone. “Did you use that ‘material I gave you last time?”
At the mention, Gwendolyn glared at her, “You almost got me killed. That was not what you said. Sandra’s face twinkled with mischief, “Killed in action, huh? Or was it in bed? Come on, it’s useful, right?”
Gwendolyn protested, “Stop it. We haven’t even…”
“Not yet? Is he impotent? What a shame, Sandra teased relentlessly
“There just hasn’t been the right moment, Gwendolyn tried to explain weakly.
“Well, don’t hurry off after work. I’ve got a little something for you” Sandra thought to herself, friends always had each other’s backs. Gwendolyn was wary of Sandra’s little something‘ and said, “I don’t want it.”
“It’s a gift to celebrate your successful clinic session. I’d be heartbroken if you refused. It’s just a dress, and I spent ages choosing it.” Sandra clutched her chest dramatically.
“Fine,” Gwendolyn conceded. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
As long as it was a dress, it couldn’t be too problematic.
At ten o’clock that night, Howard returned to his cozy villa after a long day at work. Marina had prepared a late–night snack for him, “Mr. Thomas sent over a local express package and insisted that you open it personally. It’s in your room.”
“And there’s more..
Marina’s smile was enigmatic, “Mrs. Chadwick’s personal items have been moved to your room. Spouses shouldn’t be sleeping apart.” It was Marina’s suggestion, and Gwendolyn had shyly agreed.
With lightning speed, Marina transferred all of Gwendolyn’s clothes and personal items to the master bedroom.
A subtle pleasure flickered in Howard’s eyes, “Okay.”
Marina chattered on, “You’re not getting any younger, and most of your peers have kids already. It’s high time you got a move on.” She feared for Gwendolyn’s well–being and worried that Howard wasn’t yet settled. The life–saving debt from ten years ago weighed heavily.
“I understand.” Howard casually loosened his tie, draping his jacket over the back of the sola.
He picked up the express box from the coffee table and made his

upstairs.
As he pushed open the door to the master bedroom, he was greeted by the sight of Gwendolyn’s things. The vanity was neatly lined with cosmetics, the walk–in closet now shared space with Gwendolyn’s nightgowns and dresses.
The bed had been made up with a soft cream set, a light blue gift box placed at the center and Gwendolyn’s phone was abandoned nearby.
Was this all for him?
