Alpha's Second Chance

When Rose first told us she had found her mate and gave me his name, I had, of course, run a check on him. And I found the connection between his supposing mother and Alpha Antonio, also, there was no medical information of her ever getting a pup. And I already knew that had been speculation, as they never found the body of their son when the Alpha and his family were murdered.

I found a picture from a report made to Alpha Leonardo after talking with Leo. He told me he had always suspected it but never had any proof. It had seemed like the young man just wanted to be left alone, so Leonardo had done just that.

But all this helped me realize that my daughter was mated to the son of the man who had so warmly helped me. And I promised myself to make him feel like this was his home.

When Alpha Alexander called after they met Mia, it was Enzo answering, asking for help. I was happy to see he put her before his own pride. It told me a lot about who he was as a person, a good man and an honorable one, too. And when Kyle told me they had completed their matebond, it felt good to know my little girl had been accepted by her mate.

He was the size of an Alpha and had the strength to match. I felt it when I had to hold him while Joseph worked on her. It's good, and even more, I am sure he knows his own strength, and still, he didn't keep fighting me, which he had a good chance to do if he wanted to.

I sit here at the table, feeling a little bad that I made him admit his secret the way I did. But I know it had to be done, and now it was. I look at Liv, who is sitting next to him. She is asking him different questions, and he answers them all. It looks and feels right that he is here, and once again, I know the moon goddess has done the right thing.

'Are you okay?' I feel Liv in my mind.

'Yes, I am. Our girl is home and safe and happy, so I am good,' I tell her.

'I think this is good. This can be our chance to give back after Antonio helped us. And he seems like a good boy. And more importantly, Rose is happy.' She says.

'Yes, I will find him something he will be happy with. So he can feel useful too.' I tell her, and I feel her happiness.

'I know. I see it.' I say back, and we get quiet.

"I can use a hand with the warriors now, Kyle wants to step back and enjoy his retirement," Matt says. We had invited him, Anna, and their four kids to join us.

"That is a big honor, I think that should be King Logan's choice," Enzo says and I smile.

"If you keep calling me king, I will say no." I laugh, and others do, too, including Rose.

"No, on a seriousness, I want to see what you can, and then we talk about it," I say. And smile.

"Dad, please be nice," Rose says.

"No, beautiful, your dad is right. It is only fair he tests me." Enzo says.

"Testing you means fighting him," Rose says.

"I figured that much, I will be fine. I'm sure your Dad won't hurt me, too badly." He says with a smile, and I chuckle.

"He will be fine, princess," I say using her nickname, and she rolls her eyes.

"Fine. But want to watch.” Rose says, and everyone chuckles. I'm

sure it's her concerning voice that is causing the chuckle. She is already very protective of her mate.

"You can watch, but no interference," I say, smiling, and she rolls her eyes.

"Fine." She agrees.

"And just to change the subject," Liv says and looks at Rose.

"Have you shifted yet?" Liv asks her.

"No, I wanted to do it here at home," Rose admits.

"Okay, but don't wait too long, Rose. The stronger your bond with your wolf, the

more it will hurt." I tell her, and she nods her head.

"I will do it in a few days." She says.

"We want to watch." The twins say.

"No." this time, it is Liv.

"It will be only the people she wants there. Other than her mate." Liv says. And Rose looks grateful.

"Thank you, Mom. I was thinking only of Enzo. Sorry." She says this without looking at any of us.

"Don't be sorry, it is different what

people prefer, you have a choice unlike your brother, he is the future King, the true king, everyone will expect that his first shift to either form will be in public," I say

"Assuming I have both forms." Noah comments

"Of course, you have both forms." I scold. The moon goodness already told us

you do. And you will need them.

"Sorry, but what do you mean?" Enzo asks. And Rose looks at me for confirmation.

"I will tell you when we get back in the room. It is a long story." She tells him, and

he nods his head.

"Okay. Thank you." He says and kisses her temple.

I like this kid, well, man, because he is not a kid. But I can feel he is good, and I know he will keep Rose safe be the best mate, and support her the best way he can. And for the rest of the night, I sit back and watch my family.
