Chapter 139
Chapter 139
“What happened?” Hazel asked anxiously. Ethan had suddenly slumped at the entrance of a ward. “Is
he okay? Ethan!” She yelled, shaking him, but his body was numb and
cold.
“There’s a high dose of poison. It seemed to be the highly toxic drug Nexorfin. It’s amazing he was able
to withstand and survive for this long,” the doctor commented with a sigh.
“Axel, what’s going on?” she turned to him. Ethan was yet to explain where her son had been taken
and how it was all his fault.
“We should let him rest a little and keep him under observation,” the man muttered,
then turned to leave. Hazel watched Ethan’s unconscious face. Content rights belong to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Nexorfin,” she muttered. “Who did that to Ethan?” She asked. “That’s really poisonous. Did that have
anything to do with Liam?” Hazel asked, looking at Axel. Her son had been exposed to such danger.
Axel stared at Hazel, unable to answer the questions; Ethan would be more suitable to answer them.
How was he to tell her it was her mate that had done all that and made them seemingly miserable for
years now? With a sigh,
he turned and left.
Hazel lowered herself down to the seat next to Ethan, her eyes running over his calm and serene
handsome face, the same face she had fallen in love with years ago. She reached out, holding his
hand in hers.
“Please be okay. Recover soon. You owe your kids a whole lot of trips. When Daisy wakes up,
we’ll go to Lu-Land; she’s been dying to go there,” she muttered with a smile. “Once she recovers and
you wake up, we can go. Okay?” She gripped his arm even tighter, all of her anger and reservations
towards Ethan melting away with the sad state he was in at the present moment.
“Hazel,” Nathan was about to call for her, but seeing the state she was in, he turned around
immediately and walked slowly back. What was his Faye with them now? Daisy’s surgery took several
hours and even went on till the third day. During that time, Hazel spent time at Ethan’s side along with
Liam. Soon Daisy was wheeled out. Surgery completed and successful, all that remained was Ethan.
“Bella just woke up. Ethan wanted your opinion on what should be done with her,” Axel informed him.
“Bella,” he muttered. “She has a fractured rib, and her spine was badly damaged. She might never walk
again. She’ll go to jail.”
“Send her off to jail,” Nathan ordered. Such a place would be fitting.
“Ethan, you’re awake!” Hazel said happily.

“Wait, Hazel,” he said, halting her in her steps. “There’s so much I need to tell you, so much to say.”
“I’m sorry, Hazel. Listen, Bella was…” he started.
“I know, I heard,” she said with a sigh. She and Jasmine had gotten talking; she knew what Bella
actually was. And for a while, she had been tempted to see her, but the urge suddenly vanished. She
had heard Bella was in a pitiful state. She wasn’t and couldn’t even heal either.
“I turned you away, threw you away without even knowing what I was doing. In everything, it was
actually you who had suffered the most. The man who kidnapped Liam was your mate,” he broke to
her, telling her everything gently. Hazel was stunned for a moment, staring at Ethan, her eyes widening
in disbelief. The mate she had looked for was actually alive and had been so close by. Not just that, he
had tried to kill
her kids.
“He had been so close,” she whispered. “Listen, Hazel, I’m not trying to justify what I did, my actions. I
only felt it was right that you knew everything. My father wasn’t what we thought either,” Ethan went on,
baring all that had happened and transpired. Days passed, and it took moments before Hazel could
finally wrap her head around all that had happened. With Daisy recuperating at the hospital, several
more days were spent there. Ethan worked at the pack house to put things back in order and fix the
mess his father had made. He handed off the regulations and leadership to the pack elders to handle.
Soon it was finally time for Daisy to be discharged. The kids had adjusted quite well and had begun
calling Ethan dad. Hearing them address him that way was the most elating feeling in the world. The
time Ethan spent with them, the more he began to fall for Hazel.
“We can work together, bringing up the kids,” she suggested in a distant manner. Ethan nodded,
understanding what she meant. They were both over; she didn’t want him. Whenever he came visiting
the twins, she would leave them to their own devices, while Ethan spoiled the twins to no end.
“I got you guys Roblox,” Ethan announced as he walked in happily. Liam did a small happy dance. “I’ve
got my own Roblox!”
“He cheered, announcing loudly. “Where is it?” he asked Ethan.
Ethan looked confused. “Where’s the toy?” he quizzed, looking at Ethan to see where
the new toy was.
“Toy?” Ethan asked, perplexed. “A toy, is that what you wanted me to get for you?” he asked, realizing
they had been expressing how much they wanted to own Roblox, and he had bought it as an early
birthday gift.
“Yes,” Liam cried. “I didn’t buy a toy,” Ethan admitted. “What did you buy?” Liam asked

with a disappointed frown. They had gotten all excited for nothing.
“The company,” he answered. The two stared at him blankly.
“Ethan, you did what?” Hazel asked in bewilderment.
“I bought Roblox for the twins,” he said slowly, wondering why they weren’t as excited as he imagined.
“All they wanted was the toy!” she cried, laughing at him. “Well, they got the company; you can have as
many as you want,” he told him.
“I’ll get Daisy,” Hazel said, exiting the room. “Mummy’s getting married, she and Nathan would be
marrying,” Liam informed him, watching him closely.
Ethan was surprised, his eyes narrowing. “Really?” he asked.
“Yes,” Liam affirmed. “Are you happy?” Ethan asked.
Liam gave a small careless shrug. “I like Nathan,” he said with a smile.
Ethan stood there for long moments. Hazel was actually getting married, and he thought he was
beginning to breach through that gap with her, that they were becoming close.
“Do you love my mom?” Liam asked suddenly.
Ethan was quiet. He did; he had actually come to love Hazel. In fact, he had for a long time now.
“If you love her, why did you send her away? You made her really sad,” he scolded.
Ethan sighed, sitting next to the boy. “I didn’t realize what I was doing. But yes, Liam, I love your
mummy,” he admitted. Liam took a deep, thoughtful sigh.
“The man who she loved and made her sad, or the one who’s always been there,” he muttered
thoughtfully, just as Hazel came out, Daisy in tow.
“You’re getting married?” he asked her. He couldn’t help himself or the feeling of disappointment that
surged through him.
“There, the kids are all set. Have fun,” Hazel said, ushering them out of the house.
Nathan had actually proposed to her months ago, but she was yet to give him an answer. They were to
have dinner together that day.
“Hazel, about what we talked about,” Nathan muttered, bringing his proposal back to
Hazel’s mind.
“Forget about it,” he suggested, surprising Hazel.
“What?” she stuttered.
“You’re grateful I helped you. You don’t actually love me, at least not as much as you love Ethan,” he
said.
“Gratitude shouldn’t be the reason you get married to me, Hazel,” he told her gently.
