Chapter 387
(Victoria's POV)
Half an hour later, I appeared at the Northern Territory Airport. Wearing a hat and mask, I cautiously made my way inside, pushing my wheelchair and carefully observing my surroundings with my emerald eyes.
I was unsure if the news of Emma's death had reached Ethan. Or if he had
obtained evidence from Connor and handed it to the Northern Territory Enforcers.
My wolf remained deeply buried within me, still traumatized by recent events. Every shadow seemed threatening, every sound made me jump.
I waited anxiously outside the airport terminal, feeling every second drag on. My enhanced werewolf senses picked up the scents of various pack members passing by.
Finally, I went through border control and security check. At security, when asked to remove my mask and hat, I became extremely nervous.
I was afraid that a warrant had been issued by the Northern Territory Enforcers and I would be stopped. The few minutes felt like an eternity.
I was drenched in sweat, but I maintained a calm facade. I answered questions steadily while my wolf whimpered anxiously beneath my skin.
"Purpose of travel?" the security officer asked.
"Medical treatment," I replied smoothly. "Seeking specialized care for my condition."
Once I was cleared, a wave of relief washed over me. I believed that once I left pack territory, I would be beyond the reach of pack law and remain free.
The tense feeling in my chest truly relaxed when I received my documents back. My wolf finally settled slightly within me.
A surge of smugness arose in my heart. Even if they knew I had maliciously orchestrated Emma's death, that little manipulator, they still couldn't touch me once I crossed into human territory.
"That bitch wanted to use Emma against me, in her next life!" I thought triumphantly.
As I pushed my wheelchair forward, I realized it wouldn't move. Someone was holding it back.
Annoyed, I turned to see a strange man whose scent I didn't recognize. "What are you doing? Get your hands off me," I said, irritated.
The man didn't react, but forcefully pulled me and the wheelchair backward. His grip was unnaturally strong.
I regained control of the wheelchair, my anger surging as my wolf snarled beneath my skin. I was about to lash out when I looked up.
I saw a face I deeply loved but didn't want to see at that moment: Ethan Stone.
His amber eyes burned with cold fury, and his Alpha pheromones filled the air with dangerous intensity.
He had come after me. My face paled, my heart sinking as my wolf retreated deeper within me.
The triumph I felt moments ago vanished. Frantically, I tried to move the wheelchair forward, desperate to board the plane and escape pack territory.
I couldn't accept this. But my path was blocked again by Ethan's imposing frame.
His icy voice echoed above me, carrying the full weight of his Alpha authority. "Victoria, how does it feel to be just a step away?"
"This is just the beginning."
Ethan's words sealed my fate, his Alpha dominance pressing down on my weakened wolf. Overwhelmed by fear, I looked at Ethan and pleaded with tears in my emerald eyes.
"Ethan, we were mates for years. For the sake of our bond, please let me go this time."noveldrama
"I really know I was wrong and have received the punishment I deserve. I've lost
my ability to shift, my mate bond, and my only daughter."
"I have nothing left now, please just let me leave pack territory, okay?"
"For the rest of my life, I will repent and pray for Lily, and serve her memory in the next life..."
Ethan's face darkened at the mention of our deceased daughter. His jaw clenched with barely contained rage.
Unwilling to hear my excuses and enraged by my mention of Lily, he signaled to his bodyguard. The bodyguard immediately struck me on the back of the neck with a pressure point technique.
Darkness consumed me as I lost consciousness, my wolf completely retreating within me.
(Connor's POV)
Victoria was taken out of the airport and placed in an ordinary vehicle. Behind the wheel was me, Connor Blackthorn.
I had been released from Shadowfall
Detention Center on emergency
medical parole after suffering a
breakdown upon learning of Emma's
death After hearing about Emma's
death from Ethan Stone, I had feigned a sudden illness.
I escaped while being transported
fnet
for medical treatment, overpowering the guards with my remaining werewolf strength. I had sought Victoria for revenge, but Ethan's
security team had directed me to the
airport.
They knew my intentions. I glared at Victoria in the back seat, my hatred so
intense my wolf wanted to tear her apart.
Knowing I had little time before the Northern Territory Enforcers tracked me down,
I drove Victoria away from the airport toward the abandoned sectors of pack
territory.
My hands gripped the steering wheel so tightly my knuckles turned white. Emma's
face flashed before my eyes, pale and lifeless.
"You killed her," I whispered to Victoria's unconscious form. "You killed my daughter."
(Victoria's POV)
I woke up after being splashed with a basin of ice water, my wolf stirring weakly within me. Shivering, I found myself on the floor of what appeared to be an abandoned warehouse.
I stared into Connor Blackthorn's hateful gray eyes. My last memory was of Ethan having me knocked out at the airport.
Now, I was in Connor's clutches. Connor couldn't have taken me from Ethan himself; the Alpha King must have handed me over.
He wanted to use Connor to torture me before delivering pack justice. Realizing this, my mind raced.
In Ethan's hands, I would face merciless retribution, but Connor was different. I remembered Connor's love for Emma and tried to appeal to his paternal emotions.
My eyes filled with false affection as I looked at him. "Connor, how did you get out? Our Emma is gone."
Saying Emma was gone, my eyes reddened, and tears streamed down my face. I feigned grief while my wolf remained carefully hidden.
To Connor, who knew the truth about Emma's death, my words and expressions were disgusting.
"Ethan discovered Emma wasn't his biological daughter, so he hated me for using her to manipulate you into giving false testimony."
"Emma died because of his neglect, so he deliberately refused to save her, causing our little pup to miss the best chance for rescue and die in the medical
den."
"Ethan killed Emma..." I only wanted to distract Connor so I could find a way to escape.
But despite my passionate performance, Connor didn't share my hatred for Ethan. Instead, he moved closer to me, his wolf's rage barely contained.
Terrified by Connor's menacing gaze, I retreated. I had some feeling in my legs but couldn't walk properly, so I supported myself with my arms, inching backward.
But Connor was too fast, his werewolf speed unimpaired by grief. He quickly reached me, grabbed my hair, and dragged me away.
Pain shot through me, and I felt like my scalp was being torn off. "Connor, it hurts,
let go!" I cried, tears streaming down my face.
I grabbed at my hair and tried to push Connor's hand away, but it was futile
against his supernatural strength.
Connor secured me to a metal beam, leaving me defenseless as he slowly approached with a silver-edged blade that would cause maximum pain to my weakened wolf.
