Chapter 490
Both of them stood up, stepping back several paces, their faces pale with disbelief.
"She... she can fight like that?" Fleur stammered, her heart pounding as she looked at Gideon.
"I had no idea..." Gideon replied, staring in shock at Calliope.
He'd never imagined she could be so formidable. Just moments ago, she'd kicked
the sofa clear across the room, and even an amateur could tell his uncle was no match for her. His uncle had been relentlessly pushed back, struggling to hold his ground.
Could she really take on his uncle? But wasn't she the same person who struggled to open a jar of pickles?
Fleur's face was a portrait of confusion, but Gideon was even more baffled. He watched Calliope, seeing her in a new light for the first time. Every move she made was precise, decisive. It hit him harder than ever-she was extraordinary. He realized now, he'd never really known her at all.
Understanding this, Gideon's face turned even paler. He knew things were about to get a whole lot worse.
"You... you're a member of Frostwolf!" Gabriel exclaimed, finally piecing it together through his one-sided beatdown, unable to fight back.
"You're 001!" he gasped, incredulity etched on his face. "You were the leader of Frostwolf? Were you the one who saved my life?"
Calliope paused, looking up at Gabriel. "Remember now?" she asked coolly. "You couldn't even recognize the person who saved your life?"
"I remember," Gabriel stammered, the truth dawning on him. "You said once you saved my life, it was yours."
"What, changing your mind now?" Calliope challenged.
Gabriel could only stare at her in disbelief. "It's really you... and you're so young, a woman even!"
"So what if I'm a woman?" Calliope shot back. "You think less of women? You, a grown man, needed us to save your skin!"
"No, that's not what I meant!" Gabriel hurriedly explained. "I'm sorry, I didn't recognize you for who you are. I was wrong!"
Panic etched in his voice, Gabriel turned to Fleur. "Fleur, you idiot! Do you have any idea who you've messed with? Apologize, right now!"
"And you too, Gideon! You're a fool! You let someone like her go for a nobody!"
"Both of you, apologize! Beg for forgiveness!"
Gideon and Fleur remained
dumbfounded, unable to process et
what was happening. Neither had anticipated that Gabriel knew Calliope, let alone owed her his life.
Fleur frowned, resistant. Apologizing wasn't something she was willing to do, even
if she had crossed a line.
Gideon, meanwhile, was still in shock, unable to speak, staring at Calliope with newfound respect and disbelief.
"Damn fools," Gabriel cursed under
his breath. "I'm sorry, truly. If I'd
known it was you, I would never
have helped them. I'll cut ties with
them immediately." fo
Calliope shrugged, casually walking over to the sofa and sinking into it with an effortless grace.
"Cut ties? Can you?" she asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Absolutely!" Gabriel replied, his eyes narrowing. "From now on, I have no sister."
"But you've still crossed me,"
Calliope replied, her voice calm yetnoveldrama
authoritative. She gazed at him lazily, the weight of her words
hanging in the air. "How do you plan to make it up to me?"
What do you think?
