A Divorce He Regrets

Chapter 72

Chapter 72:

Raina.

My vision tunneled, rage boiling over as I processed what I was seeing. The bastard standing over her turned his head at the sound of my voice as I shouted, “Get the hell away from her!”

His lips twisted into a sick smirk, and he started to unbuckle his belt. I saw red.

Without a second thought, I threw my weight against the door, but it didn’t budge. Cursing under my breath, I rammed it again and again, the image of that smug bastard and Raina’s helpless form driving me to the brink of madness.

On the fourth try, the door gave way, and I stormed in.

The man barely had time to react before I grabbed him by the collar and threw him to the ground. The sound of his head hitting the floor was satisfying, but it wasn’t enough. Not even close.

I hit him.

Again.

And again.

Each punch landed with the force of my fury, fueled by the image of what he’d been about to do. His smirk disappeared as his face became a bloodied mess. He tried to fight back, but I was relentless. By the time I stopped, he was unconscious, his body limp and useless on the floor.

Breathing heavily, I turned my attention to Raina.

She was slumped against the wall, her dress torn, her body trembling. My chest tightened as I saw the blood staining her hair, a crimson pool forming where her head rested.

“Raina,” I said, my voice breaking as I knelt beside her.

I shook her gently, my hands trembling as I tried to rouse her. Her eyes fluttered briefly, but they didn’t stay open. Panic gripped me as I pressed my fingers to the back of her head, feeling the warm, sticky blood that coated my palms. “No, no, no,” I muttered under my breath, scooping her into my arms. She felt so fragile, so small.

I didn’t think. I just acted.

Bursting out of the room, I carried her through the hallway, my steps hurried and purposeful. Gasps erupted from the crowd as they saw us, whispers spreading like wildfire.

Dominic was the first to reach me, his face a mask of fury and confusion.

“What the hell did you do to her?” he demanded, his voice loud and accusing. I didn’t stop walking. “Ask the bastard in the room,” I shot back, my voice cold and sharp. “He’s the one who tried to hurt her.”noveldrama

Dominic’s eyes flickered with rage, but he followed me without another word as I carried Raina out of the building and straight to my car.

The drive to the hospital was a blur of sirens and headlights.

When we arrived, the doctors moved quickly, taking Raina from my arms and rushing her into surgery. I stayed in the waiting room, pacing like a caged animal, my hands still stained with her blood.

Dominic sat nearby, his jaw clenched and his fists tightly balled. The tension between us was palpable, but neither of us spoke until the doctor finally came out, his expression calm but serious.

“She’s stable,” he said, his voice steady. “The wound on her head required stitches, but there’s no permanent damage. She’ll need rest and observation, but she’s going to be fine.”

Relief washed over me like a tidal wave, but it was quickly replaced by anger.
