Chapter 236
Chapter 236:
“The doctor is here,” Raina said, turning around. “Talk to you soon.”
I nodded, battling to keep my voice level against the storm inside my brain. “Sleep. You need loads of that.”
She gave a small smile. “I will. I promise this time.”
The line went silent, and I was left to my musings. I let the phone fall onto the table and huffed heavily.
I went over to the couch, trying to get some rest myself. My mind replayed everything that had happened: Faith’s pain, Dominic’s desperation, Raina’s smile, but eventually, exhaustion won out, and I fell asleep.
My phone vibrating pulled me awake. I blinked blearily, reaching for it on the table. Seven missed calls.
Raina’s name flashed on the screen as it vibrated again. My stomach dropped.
I responded immediately. “Raina? What’s wrong? Are you okay? Are the kids—”
Her voice cut me off, shrill and angry. “Where is that incompetent, backstabbing brother of mine? And what the hell is this I’m hearing about them getting a divorce?!”
Her words slammed into me like a fist to the gut. My heart thudded in my chest as I fumbled for what to say.
“How… how did you know?” I stammered, my mind reeling.
FAITH
Raina said she’d be here. So where was she? Three hours had passed, and I was fed up with waiting. Fed up with Dominic following me everywhere, as if I’d disappear the moment he turned his back. Maybe I would. Maybe I wanted to.
I shoved off the couch, heading for the bathroom with my phone clutched in my hand, but Dominic was faster. His fingers wrapped around my wrist, his touch scorching, like an open wound. The betrayal made it burn.
“What do you want?” he asked, his voice softer than expected. Like he thought he could fix this.
I plastered a smile on my face, one I’d perfected over the years. “A divorce would do.”

His jaw clenched, his grip on my wrist tight but not painful. “Not happening.”
I pulled my hand free. “You can’t keep me here, Dom.”
“Eliza’s gone. We can work through this.”
I laughed, the dry, mirthless kind. “If anyone had ever told me Dominic Graham could be this stupid, I wouldn’t have believed them.” His nostrils flared, but I kept going. “You broke our marriage, and now you think I should help you fix it?” I cocked my head, my voice sharp as glass. “You can try. But I won’t be in it.”
His eyes went dark. “It was a mistake—”
“No,” I cut him off. “It was a choice. One you made.”
His frustration was palpable. “Why can’t you see that?”
Before I knew it, the palm of my hand cracked against his cheek. Hard. So hard that it stung my hand. His head snapped sideways, blood beginning to pool at the corner of his mouth.
Dominic let out a low chuckle, wiping his lip with the back of his hand. “Didn’t know you had that in you.” His gaze flickered with something unreadable. “Though I should’ve known. You didn’t hesitate to expose Eliza and her fake pregnancy.”noveldrama
I turned to leave, but his hand shot out again, catching my arm. In the next second, my back hit the wall, his hands bracketing me in.
“Is there nothing I can do?” he asked, his voice raw. “Caleb still needs us. He needs both of his parents.”
