A Billionaire’s Ruse

Emily To Be Part Of The Game Again

“O, there you are Mr. Pierce. Welcome.” I shook hands with him and we exchanged pleasantries.

“It is nice seeing you again” Mr. Thornton said to me

“Me too” I said to him trying to sound as calm as possible.

“Please have a seat” he said, offering me one of the seats opposite his.

“I believe you must have gotten my response” I said to him

“Yes, I did and I must confess that was one of the best news I heard for a long time” he replied

“That is good to hear” I said to him

“Well, I am here to finalize the other part of the deal. I am here so we can finalize the deal so that you can sign the document making me a co-owner of the company so that you can receive the remaining balance I promised to send to you” I said to him

“That is not a problem. I am a man of integrity and I always fulfill my promise” He said to me.

I honestly was not interested in all these sweet talks. All I wanted was to get the documents and know I am done with this. I checked the time and noticed that I have spent almost three hours since I started using the luxury car.

The clock is ticking and I do not have all the time in the world.

“Okay, can we get this done with because I have some other meeting to attend to immediately” I said to him

“Yes, please give me a few minutes” He said to me picking up his telephone and pinching some digits trying to call somebody

“Hello, Emily” he said

I could not hear the response of the other person but I assumed the person replied to him.

“I want you to head up to my office right now with those documents.” He spoke to the person who was obviously very close to him.

He hanged up the phone and spoke to me

“Please be patient. My daughter will be here in a few minutes. Please be patient” Hr said to me.

“Okay.” I said to him hoping she arrives quick because I have spent some quality time and I was accumulating more money for the luxury car I hired

“Here is the document that we need to sign to finalize this deal” Mr. Thornton said to me

“I know but before we go ahead with this discussion, I have a special offer for you” I said to him

“a special offer?” he asked bewildered

“Yes, a special offer that I do not think you should ignore” I said to him

“Okay, Tell me more about this offer” Mr. Thornton said to me obviously trying to think hard in a bid to uncover my next move

“I think I am beginning to like your daughter” I said to him looking straight into his eyes in search of any objections or resistance.

“Please, Mr. Alexander Pierce, I love my daughter and I do not try to involve her in my office politics and dirty game, let alone act as bait in exchange for any favor. I will advise you to look elsewhere. I might have given you false hope the last time you were her but I thought you were joking. But in all honesty, I don’t joke with my daughter” Mr. Thornton said to me without mincing words

“This is not about any form of office politics or game. I truly love your daughter and I only want you to benefit greatly from my benovelent heart because of your daughter” I said to him trying to give him enough reasons why he should buy into my idea.

“I cannot make such a crucial decision for my daughter because it is her life and she deserves to be responsible for some certain decisions in her life” he said to me obviously trying to play the role of a good father of which I am not interested in.

“You are not making a decision for her but you are simply helping her put her life on the right path” I said to him feeling frustrated with all these discussions.

“I do not think I can do what you are asking” he said to me trying to bring out the document to finalize our discussion

“Not so quick, Mr. Thornton” I said to him stopping him in his track.

I could see the look of disapproval written all over his face but what else can I do since he insists on playing his cards wrongly and being stubborn despite all my advances.

I have no sympathy for stubborn folks. He must learn to play by my rule if he ever hoped to come out of this alive.

“Not so fast, Mr. Thornton. Please do not be in a hurry” I repeated to confirm his thoughts

“What do you mean?” he asked looking at me afraid and suspicious.

“I feel I should tell you about my offer before we go ahead so that you can know the best course of action before you go ahead” I said to him.

“Please can you speak in more simple terms” Mr. Thornton said to me looking lost like a toddler who was abandoned by his mother in a dark and lonely cave.

“I hope to reduce my share in this company to 40% and try to raise as much as an extra $500 million for your company if only you agree to do my bidding…” I started

I noticed that his eyes bulged in greed. Of course who would not be fascinated by such an idea.

He stood the chance of not losing much of his grip over his company while increasing his funds by a whopping $500 million

“What do you hope to achieve with all these?” he asked me looking sad and depressed at the same time.

I cared very little about his feelings and emotions. All I was after was achieving my aim and objectives. That was my primary mission and every other thing is secondary.
