Chapter Eighty
Chapter Eighty
When the vehicle came to a stop, Rome looked at the glass building, and then he felt a vibration in his
leg.
After pulling his phone out of his pocket, he looked at the screen for a second before answering the
call.
"Rick, What do you have for me?" Rome calmly asked.
"Good morning, sir. What you asked of me yesterday, I got the result." Rick's voice flowed into his ear.
"Charles is using the Barlow properties as the loan collateral."
"Thanks, Rick. If you can, I need you to find out the exact bank Charles borrowed the money from and
the terms and conditions of the loan."
"I can, and I will, Sir."
After Rome had ended the call with Rick, K looked at his reflection in the V-mirror and said, "It's a good
thing that you had spies in DreamTeam to keep tabs on ma'am. Now, at least with their help, we can
stay ahead of Charles and the puppets' master so we can safe ma'am company."
"Why is Charles crediting loan though?" Rome subconsciously mumbled.
"Huh?"
"At first, I thought this so-called puppet master wanted to annoy me by snatching the Barlow wealth
from Catherine and giving it to Charles. But why isn't he or she helping him keep it?"
"Maybe, he plans to let ma'am and the family lose the wealth completely since it will dishonor the family
and that will reflect terribly on you."
"Mmh, maybe,"
Lowering his gaze, Rome frowned as he thought, "Or, maybe not."
Then he unlocked the car door, pushed it opened, and stepped out, gazing at the building with a
straight expression.
A few minutes after he arrived in the lobby with K, his expression suddenly hardened as he watched
Madam Rosey and Mr. Barlow smile at him before slightly waving.
Keeping their cheerful expression, the both of them walked over to Rome and then stopped a foot away
from him.
"Our dear grandson-in-law." Madam Barlow cried happily.
Feeling his employee's eyes on them, Rome slightly frowned and said, "Let's take this discussion to my
office."
Then he walked away, heading to the elevator with K, Madam Rosey, and Mr. Barlow following after
him.
A while later, the three of them entered the room on the top floor and K stayed out, by the door.
"What do you two want from your good-for-nothing grandson-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Barlow?" Rome
coldly asked as he took a seat behind his desk.
A nervous laugh escaped Madam Rosey's lips as she gently slapped her husband and said, "We were
really ignorant in the past, right honey?"
"Right, right! We were so full of ourselves that we didn't know how to act the right way." Mr. Barlow
chuckled.
"You both are still ignorant and full of yourself even now." Rome calmly uttered. "But my guess is that
you two didn't come here to throw insults at yourself, so what do you guys want?"
The smile on Madam Rosey's face instantly faded as Mr. Barlow cleared his throat and frowned at her.
"We all know how much you love Catherine, and it's no denying that Catherine really cares about
DreamTeam, so we were hoping you could track down Mr. Quincy and force him to fix what he did!" Mr.
Ford humbly said.
"I could, but I won't," Rome said, looking him directly into his eyes.
"But... but…"
"But nothing. Let me set the record straight here."
Seeing how serious Rome's expression had become, Madam Rosey and Mr. Barlow's hair stood on
their neck, and they lowered their gaze.
"I don't like any of the Barlow, except Catherine. So if I do something for the Barlows, I do it for her, and
I made that clear to you all from the very beginning!" Rome casually uttered. "Don't offend me and don't
do anything to hurt my wife's feelings. The rules were simple!"
It grew awfully silent as he took a long look at them. Then he sighed and said, "But you Barlows are so
problematic, and you guys couldn't even follow a simple rule!"
"Since you have made it clear how much you love Catherine. Then please save DreamTeam for her
sake!" Mr. Barlow said, raising his gaze to meet Rome's eyes.
A slow fury began to consume Rome, and his face twisted in rage as he lashed out, "Who do you guys
think you are, using my wife's name to get your way with me!!"
"Th-at not what…" Mr. Barlow stuttered.
"After everything, you two have put her through, do you both think you guys deserve benefiting from
her name!!"
"We ar…"
"No, you don't! Neither of you does, and I have been merciful for the longest only because of her. But
don't you dare try to take advantage of that, and push to the limit to make a fool out of me because I'm
not the one to mess with!"
With a look of fear in her eyes, Madam Rosey lowered her hand and hastily said, "We are sorry!... For
everything, Rome."
"We both know you guys are not. You might feel sorry for losing me and Catherine now that you know
who I am. But you two are not sorry for what you guys said and did to us in the past. That's why I am
not regretful for what I'm about to do."
Immediately, Madam Rosey and Mr. Barlow raised their gaze and stared at each other. Then they
nervously looked at Rome, fearing the thought of what his words meant.
But he placed his focus on his computer, turned it on, and coldly uttered, "I have work to attend to, so
you guys should shut the door after you leave."
"So, you are going to let Catherine lose the Barlow wealth and DreamTeam!" Madam Rosey lashed
out.
"Honey!" Mr. Barlow frowned at her.
"I don't believe that you would if you loved her."
"Woman, can you quiet down!"
Swaying his gaze off the computer, Rome met Madam Rosey's angry eyes and said, "You are right, I
wouldn't. But that's not something for you guys to celebrate because it wouldn't benefit you guys. I will
make sure of that!"
A look of annoyance crossed Madam Rosey's face. Then she turned around and stormed out of the
office with Mr. Barlow chasing after her.
Listening to the quietness in the office, Amara focused on the ceiling for a while. Then her phone
vibration made her sit up straight and pick it off the desk.
Then she tapped on her screen and read the message, "How's everything going?"
Frowning, she huffed and wrote back, "Smoothly,"
"Good, continue to keep it that way. The bait has been set, and it wouldn't be long before Rome fall for
it. Afterward, you know what to do next, right?"
"Yes. My big moment! Plan three. I am aware."
"Good!"
After staring at her phone for a while and receiving no message, Amara tossed her phone on the desk
and lashed out, "Bossy as always! Do you think we are still little!"
Time drifted by naturally, and by ten o'clock, Rome finally left his company and headed into the parking
lot.
The entire area was empty because everyone had gone home, and it was just K, Rome, and Mr.
Orlando.
‘Will she be asleep by now?’ Rome thought as K opened the back door for him.
Then at that moment, his phone buzzed, and he looked at the screen for a while, reading the text.
"Thanks, Rick. You did well." Rome wrote back before getting into the backseat.
Then he slightly smiled as he thought, 'Bear with me a little bit, babe. You will soon get everything
back.'Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
