The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 508

Chapter 508

"Where have you been, Cordelia?" Petra inquired, her gaze briefly lifting from her mug of steaming

coffee.

"Oh, just had a meeting at Empower Operations," Cordelia replied, slipping off her coat. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

Petra just hummed in response and went about her business. Neither of them spoke again.

When Cordelia got home, she asked Janice about her son's well-being.

"Ma'am, Callum's been asking about you a lot lately. He wants you to come home. Maybe you could

swing by when you have a chance?" Janice suggested with a maternal concern in her voice.

Cordelia hummed in acknowledgment, considering catching the early bus tomorrow morning. It was

already late, and the last bus to Millstone had stopped running for the night.

Just then, her phone buzzed—it was Ronan.

"Hey," Cordelia answered.

"Janice mentioned you're heading back to Millstone. Join me?"

"When?"

"Right now."

Cordelia glanced at her watch—it was already past four. It would be close to nine by the time she got to

Millstone. Hitching a ride seemed like the best option and a good chance to check on Callum.

"Alright."

She hastily packed a small bag and headed to Ronan’s grandpa's house, where Ronan was already

waiting for her downstairs.

After getting in the car, the two of them sat in silence. Cordelia slowly drifted to sleep. When she woke,

they were pulling up to Pearl Palms. Ronan was already unloading stuff from the car.

At the doorstep, a little figure stood eagerly awaiting them. "Dad's back! Where's Mom? Didn't Janice

say you were both coming?"

Cordelia didn't bother with her luggage; instead, she bent down to wrap Callum in her arms. "Mom's

here, darling. I heard you weren't feeling well. Are you better now?" She peppered kisses on Callum

Evans' cheek.

"I'm all better now. Janice fixed me up. But I'm super happy to trick you into coming back," Callum

admitted with a grin.

Cordelia playfully flicked his forehead. "My baby."

"Mommy!" Callum suddenly clung to her legs affectionately. "I missed you so much."

Ronan cast a glance at the clingy display between mother and son, said nothing, and retreated to the

living room. He had barely asked Janice about the past few days when his phone rang—it was

Emerson.

"Bro, what's this about you looking for a bride? Your story's the talk of the town on this dating site. Why

didn't I know about this sooner? I could've set you up with someone," Emerson teased with a hint of

curiosity.

"Which site?"

"I'm sending you the link. Are you seriously looking for a stepmom for Callum? Did you even ask the kid

what he thinks?" Emerson pushed a little further.

"Cut the crap and send it," Ronan snapped, his patience wearing thin.

Just then, Cordelia walked in, one hand holding her bag and the other around Callum, completely

ignoring Ronan as she headed straight for Callum's room.

Ronan's gaze lingered on Cordelia before he irritably adjusted his tie.

"The website's saying you're quite the catch now, a real diamond bachelor. Did you put that ad up? If

not, I'll get them to take it down right now," Emerson offered.

Ronan glanced at the closed door of Callum's room, remembering how Cordelia had shut it with a cold

'snap.'

"No need. Leave it," he said through gritted teeth.

"You can't be serious?"

Ronan didn't respond, simply ending the call.
