Chapter 101 A Happy Birthday To You (Part One)
Chapter 101 A Happy Birthday To You (Part One)
It was early in the morning on New Year's Day. The usual loud chanting of slogans after the morning
exercises was missing, but Fiona was awakened by the loud voices outside in the corridor.
"Come here, quick! This is our apartment!"
"Why did you come here this early?"
"My dear, see? This is the food I cooked for you!"
Fiona yawned as she rubbed her eyes. When she was properly awake, she realized that a new family
had entered the apartment building.
"You're awake?"
She heard Spencer's delightful voice. She turned to look at him and saw him smiling at her with his
chin propped up on his hand.
Trying not to blush, she calmly said, "It's time to wake up."
"Did you sleep well?" Spencer asked her affectionately.
Fiona froze as she thought about his question. She remembered how Spencer had deliberately insisted
that they sleep in the same bed last night. He slept like an octopus, putting his hands and legs all over
her. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake him off her. Last night, she had turned her back
to Spencer, but had suddenly felt something hard on her butt. She had felt so scared that she couldn't
move. She had secretly hoped he would move away, but he didn't. Eventually, she had drifted off to
sleep.
"Why aren't you answering me?" Spencer asked. He suddenly wrapped his arms around her and held
her as he buried his head into her chest.
"I slept well," Fiona said, trembling.
"Well, I didn't," Spencer said in a muffled voice. Then, he raised his head and continued in a NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
disappointed tone, "Do you know how hard it is for me to just hold you and not do anything else with
you?"
Fiona's eyes went wide with shock when she heard him. She pushed him away and blushed red,
feeling shy. "You jerk!"
"Hey! You're my wife. This is not me being a jerk. It's just love."
"You..." Fiona immediately sat up on the bed and stared at him cautiously, with her hands grasping her
clothes over her chest. 'Why does he suddenly seem like a different person?' she wondered. He had
been such a mean bully before, but now he was a completely different person. She wasn't used to him
being this way.
Watching Fiona sunk in her thoughts, Spencer tousled her hair and planted a kiss on her cheek. "Shall
I take you to the auditorium for the rehearsal today? I have to check the seating arrangement."
"What? Oh..." Fiona blushed and nodded. Spencer turned around and started getting ready.
He secretly wore a smile on his lips as he felt ecstatic. He was bewitched after all. After pouring out his
feelings to her, he couldn't control himself anymore. He just wanted to hug her and kiss her all day
long. All these years of controlling himself had become pointless now. He was drenched with love.
The two of them got ready and left. As they walked out the door, they saw many people —a little girl
holding onto her doll, a pregnant woman, and a cute newlywed couple. Fiona couldn't help but smile.
"Mr. Cheng!" Several subordinates greeted him as he walked past them.
"Hmm," Spencer nodded. "It's New Year's Day today. Relax and don't work too much."
"Yes, sir!"
Spencer said a few words to them before leaving with Fiona. They were turning around the stairs when
they heard some people talking.
"That's your leader? He looks so cool!" a girl said.
"He looks so young and promising!"
"Who is that woman beside him? She's so beautiful!"
"She is his sister, right? She looks so young!"
When Spencer heard them, he held Fiona's hand more firmly and muttered, "A bunch of rude girls just
called you my sister! Do I look that old?"
Fiona smiled, "Mr. Cheng, you are just 27. You are not old at all."
Spencer's expression went grim. "You said that on purpose, Fiona."
"What did I say?"
"You deliberately said I'm 27."
"Aren't you? Was I wrong?"
Spencer rolled his eyes at her. "Fiona, today is my birthday. You can't do this today. You should listen to
me on my birthday. You should listen to everything I say and obey my wishes."
'If I won't, you'll just use force,' Fiona thought to herself.
When they entered the auditorium, it was bustling with activity.
"Come on, hang this curtain up!"
"The chairs must be arranged in order!"
"Check the sound equipment!"
Eric stood on the stage with a loud speaker in his hand as he gave directions to the crew setting up the
auditorium. When he saw Spencer, he shouted through the speaker. "Spencer, you have arrived."
"Yes," Spencer nodded. "Have you moved the piano here?"
"Of course I have!" Eric chuckled and jumped off the stage. "I have it ready for Mrs. Cheng! How about
you get on the stage and try it out? Like a rehearsal."
Before Fiona could say anything, Spencer replied for her, "Of course we need to rehearse."
Spencer jumped onto the stage, which was about a meter and a half high. He then stretched out his
arms and called out to Fiona. "Come on, let me lift you up!"
"No, thank you." Fiona shook her head. It was not like there weren't any steps to the stage. 'Why does
he always have to show off? Let he lift me up in public?' Fiona didn't want to die of embarrassment.
"No?" When Spencer noticed that Fiona was trying to take the stairs on the side of the stage, he bent
over and scooped her up in one swift motion and lifted her onto the stage.
Fiona was on the stage before she could react. She frowned. "You jerk!"
"I'm not!" Spencer beamed at her. "Don't you think it's more convenient for me to lift you up? Good girl.
Now go rehearse." With that, he kissed her on the cheek.
Eric, who was standing behind them, smiled. "You have a large audience, you know. Careful not to
break the festive spirits of the single men and women," he joked.
Fiona was shocked and tried to get out of Spencer's embrace. "Spencer! What are you doing? Stop it!
You bastard! Let me go!"
Spencer glared at Eric and let go of Fiona reluctantly. "All right! I'm letting go of you."
Fiona ran to the piano and sat down. She tried to calm herself before she began practicing. 'Spencer
must be crazy! He's gone mad!' she thought to herself.
"Mrs. Cheng, would you like to play a tune for us? We want to listen to you play."
"I agree with you!"
More than a dozen soldiers gathered in front of the stage and watched Fiona with keen interest.
Looking at Fiona sitting in front of the piano, Spencer couldn't help but smile. She looked so soft and
gentle all of a sudden.
It took time for Fiona to come to her senses. She smiled at them gracefully. "I know you are busy with
your own work. I feel awkward sitting here and performing for such a busy crowd."
"Of course not. The music will help us work better!"
"That's right! Mrs. Cheng, just forget we're here."
They all started talking. Fiona took a look at Spencer, who smiled at her proudly. "Just play it."
