My brothers look at me like I’m heartless, maybe I am. I don’t want for them to say it out loud. Walking through I go to my office and lock the door. I use the room to hide away from everyone for hours.
After midnight I walk to the kitchen getting a drink. NôvelD(ram)a.ôrg owns this content.
“She hasn’t left her room.”
I look at Marcello. “So? She’s probably sleeping.”
“What’s the plan. Cal? We didn’t think this shit through, how will it even work?” Marcello grabs a glass and fills it sitting and looking at me waiting.
“What do you mean how will it work? She will work for us.” I thought they all understood that.
“Right, but everything else?”
“What else Marc?”
“Come on Cal, he is on about her and her life. She works for us fine, but what else? What freedom is she given, can she leave and go. shopping? Make friends and go out on a night, meet a guy and fuck him?”
Turning I glare at Demitri.
“No guys come near her, she’s ours.” I shake my head, she isn’t ours.
“How long do we keep her Cal? Until we think she has worked off
what we paid? A few months and lie and say we used her and no longer want her?” Marc looks at me waiting.
“She had a life before Cal, she was the one who did the shopping for Dean. She went to guy’s houses sure it was for work but still she got out. She went to clubs, sure again for work, but she got freedom. Time away from Dean, we didn’t think this shit through.”
I nod, he is right.
“How can we say she is ours and no other man can touch her then we don’t touch her?” Demitri looks at me.
“I don’t know, right? This is down to you two, buying her to give her a break from her life. This is exactly why after Demitri brought her home I said stay the hell away.” I finish my drink and stand. “Give it a few days, let me think, I will figure something out.” Walking out I go to my room and climb into bed..
My dreams torture me, showing her in my shirt that day, I find myself constantly waking. The next two days I hide away, leaving the city for business, or that’s my excuse when in fact I just want to avoid the shit at home. Stopping the car I turn and smile.
“See you around Calix.” Loanna leans forward kissing my cheek before getting out of the car. Driving home I walk in, my brothers looking at
1. me.
“Fun holiday?” Marc looks at me annoyed.
“Great thanks. Great company, and peaceful.” I smirk at him.
“You realise running away for two days, fucking a woman doesn’t mean shit isn’t here still. It is, all of it.”

“Whatever Demitri, sit time to talk.” I watch as they sit at the table. “Right, so she works for us, she will be allowed to go shopping, but she will have one of our guys watching her. More in case Dean sees her and wants revenge. For now, that will be enough freedom.”
“If she wants it Cal, she hasn’t left the room, she won’t unlock the fucking door, I tried, believe me, I would just break the door but that wouldn’t be right.” Demitri looks at me.
“So, she’s following orders, that’s good.” Why are they complaining?
“Act heartless. Right now you’re acting worse than Dean.” Demitri walks off with Marc following, walking upstairs I stop at her room, shaking my head I keep walking to mine. Lying down I find myself asleep quickly, but my dreams again are torturing me, showing me her in my shirt. Reminding me of her body next to mine.
Groaning I get out of bed, walk to her room and knock, standing I wait and don’t get a reply.
“Daisy?” I knock again lightly. “Can you open the door please?” I don’t want to break it or order her to. I wait and hear nothing, are they sure she is even in there? I feel myself panic slightly, they haven’t seen her at all and she hasn’t eaten any food they left for her. I knock again. louder.
“Open the door now Daisy! Now or I will break it down.” I stand and hear the lock, relief flooding through me, opening the door I step in and she looks at me waiting.
“What can I do for you, Calix?” She stands waiting. “Maybe cook, wash your car, hell maybe even wash your feet. What do you want?” She looks at me irritated, yet I can see hurt in her eyes.
“Sit, I want to talk.” I watch as she stands looking at me, moving I sit
on her bed, and a moment later she joins me.
“I’m sorry for how I acted. It was wrong of me to make you stay in the car and wait. I’m sorry for sending you to your room like a child. You‘ re not a child Daisy.” I shake my head.
“I’m trying, this is new for me, having a woman live here, with us. You‘ re the first who has come out with us, and part of me wanted you to stay in the car to protect you from what was happening inside.”
“It’s fine, I will do as I’m told from now on.” Her words are flat.
“You will have freedom Daisy, Tomorrow I will introduce you to Troy, he is one of my best bodyguards, he will be yours. A precaution in case Dean sees you. I will talk to you tomorrow about when you can leave and where to. I’m sorry. Day one and I fucked up.”
“You didn’t, I should have listened to you all, Calix, after years I should have known. I followed orders with Dean, you’re no different, you bought me and own me I need to do the same for you.”
I stare at her shaking my head.
“I don’t own you.”
“You do, but in a different way.” She stays quiet, I look at her.
“When did you last eat?” I watch as she shrugs her shoulders. “There will be basic rules Daisy, like you eating. Come on.” Standing I pull her along with me into the kitchen. I begin to grab out things to cook and she watches me confused,
“What?” Why is she staring at me?
“You can cook?” I laugh slightly.

“Yes cub, I can cook. Don’t be so shocked. We don’t have a maid, cook, or whatever. We do it ourselves.” She doesn’t reply, just stands. quietly beside me and helps me cook. Sitting we eat, and she keeps her eyes down. She looks uncomfortable, I’ve noticed whenever we sit and eat she looks uncomfortable.
“Is there a reason you never look comfortable when eating?” I shake my head, telling myself off. “Sorry, that sounded wrong.”
“It’s fine, and I don’t feel comfortable eating around people. I barely eat around people. With Dean, I ate after everyone, after I cleaned and such. So I am used to eating in silence with no one around.”
I simply nod, then look back at her again.
“Surely with your parents, you ate with them?” She can’t always have sat by herself in the past to eat.
“No, my parents were always busy. I would cook, they would get theirs and leave me to it.”
“Christmas, birthdays?” I look at her.
I watch as she shakes her head. I feel worse now than I had before.
“If you would rather not eat with us, if you’re more comfortable to eat alone, just say.”
“It’s fine. It’s weird and uncomfortable, but it’s nice.” Her words are quiet, and I nod.
